CONNEAUT — A 58-year-old Girard man is dead after falling off a boat on Saturday, seven miles off the Lake Erie shore near the Pennsylvania state line, according to reports.

Conneaut Assistant fire Chief Steve Sanford told the Ashtabula Star Beacon that Michael Daroski was pronounced dead at UH Conneaut Medical Center after attempts to save his life were not successful.

U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Jason Turner said they received a call of a person overboard at 10:13 a.m.

Lancaster said Daroski was on vacation in the area, and the death is under investigation by the Ashtabula County Coroner’s office. She said Daroski was transported to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
