PILL COLLECTION: Law enforcement officers from the Trumbull County Sheriff's Office and the Trumbull Ashtabula Group Law Enforcement Task Force will be collecting and destroying prescription drugs 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday as part of "Operation: Empty Medicine Cabinet." The officers will accept unused or expired drugs in original containers at the Sears merchandise pickup door at the Eastwood Mall. Participants can drive up and drop off. Officers will count the medications and destroy them.
The Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention, a project of the Trumbull County Mental Health and Recovery Board, is sponsoring this program to limit the misuse of drugs by children and teens who often get the drugs from their family's medicine cabinets.
Medications not accepted include needles, syringes, lancets, thermometers, IV bags and aerosol cans. For information, call 330-675-2765, Ext. 119.
CARD PARTY: The Women's Guild of St. William Parish, 5411 Mahoning Ave., Warren, is sponsoring its annual card party at 1 p.m. (doors open at 12:30) Sunday. Cost is $10. Featured will be a grand salad bar, table prizes, a basket raffle, a 50-50 raffle and more.
WALK FOR FOOD: The Champion High School Interact Club will have members canvassing neighborhoods 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at to collect items for the Champion Pride Council's food drive. Food collected will be packaged and distributed to families in need for Easter. Donations requested include cereal, spaghetti and canned sauce, macaroni and cheese, boxed meals, canned pasta, soup and granola bars. The food drive is being held through April 11. Collection sites are also set up at local Champion churches.
RESCUE BUNNY EVENT: Legacy Dog Rescue and F5RS (Frisky Ferrets, Fuzzies and Feathered Friends) are hosting a picture with a Rescue Bunny event noon to 4 p.m. April 13 at Family Video, 4385 Kirk Road, Austintown. There also will be a bake sale. People can have their photos taken with therapy bunnies.
GAME NIGHT FOR TEENS: The Cortland Library Branch will hold a teen game night 3 to 5 p.m. Friday. Teens in grades seven to 12 will take part in various games.
