VICTORIAN COLLECTIONS SERIES: "Victorian Collections and Coffee," the annual fall lecture series of the Sutliff Museum, will kick off Tuesday with a presentation on the impact of the Industrial Revolution on home interiors. The speaker is Teresa Etzler, owner of Posh Places in Poland. The presentation will give attendees insight into the influences the Industrial Revolution had on Victorian home interiors and how that influence extended to today. Attendees are invited to bring one or two pieces of their own collection for the speaker to comment on during the interactive segment of the program. This is the first of three free programs in the series and will be presented in the Thomas Meeting Room on the second floor of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library. TOURS OF SCHOOL: Champion schools will hold public tours of the construction site for the new PK-8 school complex off state Route 45. Parking for everyone taking the tours will be at the high school parking lot. All visitors will be taken by school bus to the site for their tour. Buses will run continuously during the tour times of 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
BLESSING OF ANIMALS: St. Patrick Church, 357 N. Main St. Hubbard, will hold a Blessing of the Animals 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. The blessing is in conjunction with Feast of St. Francis of Assissi, the patron saint of animals and the environment.
FALL CLEANUP: Cleanup at the Girard City Cemetery is scheduled through Oct. 9, for pulling flowers and cleaning graves. After that date, employees will be removing any plants on graves for fall cleanup, in preparation for upcoming holiday wreaths.
VOLLEY FOR A CURE: The Trumbull County Board of Developmental Disabilities Wellness Committee will host its annual Volley for a Cure fundraiser 5 p.m. Nov. 16 in the Fairhaven School Gymnasium, 420 Lincoln Way in Niles. All proceeds raised from the event will benefit The Hope Center for Cancer Care in Howland.
Entrance to the event costs $1. Community members can participate in the event by signing up to play on an existing team or putting together their own team. TCBDD staff members and their families also will be playing.
Beginning Friday, Volley for a Cure T-shirts will be on sale for $10 each. Attendees also can purchase luminary pages in honor or in memory of an individual touched by cancer for $1. The luminaries will be on display during the event. To purchase a T-shirt or luminary, contact Cathy Metz at (330)-652-5811.
