YOUNGSTOWN -- The Western Reserve Port Authority and Aerodynamics Inc. -- the airline that briefly provided commercial service at the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport last year -- were not able to come to terms during mediation last week.
As a result, the case will continue in U.S. District Court Northern District of Ohio, said Daniel Keating, the port authority's attorney. Mediation between the two started Wednesday. Keating said Monday the talks "were not successful" and the proceedings will move forward.
The port authority, which runs the airport in Vienna, is looking to recoup $361,714 the board said it paid the airline, commonly known as ADI, to provide daily passenger flights from the airport to Chicago O'Hare International. The service launched July 1, but was abruptly grounded weeks later. Earlier this year, the port authority sued the airline, accusing it of fraud and breach of contract. ADI filed a countersuit demanding $294,221 the Georgia-based airline says it billed the port authority for service, but was never paid.
Both sides agreed to mediation at the court's recommendation. The case originally started in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court, but was moved to federal court.
