HEALTH PROGRAM: The Warren City Health District is hosting a two-part program, screening and presentation of risks for high blood pressure, heart disease and diabetes, from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday for the screenings, and noon to 1:30 p.m. April 26 for the presentation, both in the third-floor conference room of the health department, 258 E. Market St.

For the screening day, participants must be fasting 12 hours prior to the test. Mercy Health will draw a hemoglobin A1C, total cholesterol, HDL, LDL and triglycerides. Blood pressure screening will also be provided as well as refreshments.

Test results will be released during the presentation session, and patients will learn what the numbers mean.

The program is free. Registration is required by calling the health department at 330-841-2596.

12 STEPS TO SERENITY: A 14-week step study -- 12 Steps to Serenity -- is being offered from noon to 2 p.m. April 15, 22, 29, May 6, 20 and 27, and June 3, to all who are affected by someone else's drinking.

The program will be held at the Sahara Club 2, 2345 Youngstown Road SE, Warren, in the Al-Anon room. Access is made through the side parking lot.

Anyone with a family member with addiction to alcohol or other substance may join until April 15. Attendees need to bring a notepad and writing utensil. Handouts will be provided.

PFLAG MEETING: Youngstown Area PFLAG will have its monthly support meeting 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at St. John's Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave., Youngstown. Youngstown Area PFLAG (Parents, Families, Friends, and Allies) is a support, education and advocacy group United with LGBT People to move equality forward. FAMILY EDUCATION CLASS: NAMI (National Alliance On Mental Illness) Mahoning Valley Presents its 2018 Spring Family To Family course, a free, 12-week education class for families living with serious mental illness. It is taught by NAMI-trained family members who have lived with a person with mental illness.

The course offers information about diagnosis, medications, confidentiality, community resources, communication skills for families in crisis and so much more.
