SENIOR PROGRAM: A senior program at St. Joseph Warren Hospital, 667 Eastland Ave. SE, Warren, will be 1 p.m. Sept. 21 in the second floor classrooms of Building A. The speaker will be Debbie Zador, an Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program volunteer, who will review Medicare and its preventive benefits, upcoming Medicare card changes, low-income subsidy programs and open enrollment.
A light lunch will be provided. Reservations are required by today at 330-841-4375.
WALK-A-THON AND HEALTH FAIR: The Strike A Balance Walk-A-Thon and Health Fair will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 22 at the Eastwood Mall main concourse, hosted by the Area Agency on Aging 11. The event is in conjunction with Ohio's 10 Million Steps to prevent falls initiative.
Besides the walk, Mercy Health will provide health screenings, informational tables will be throughout the concourse and exercise and cooking demonstrations will be held on center stage.
NUTRITION SITES AVAILABLE: The Trumbull County Nutrition Program for the Elderly is provided by the Trumbull County Office of Elderly Affairs and operates nutrition sites at 10 locations in the county. Meals will be delivered to county residents 60 and older who are homebound, unable to cook for themselves and not living with someone who can cook for them. Client donations are accepted. RETIREES TO MEET: St. Joseph Hospital retirees will meet for breakfast 9:30 a.m. Sept. 25 at the Wayside Restaurant in Champion. Attendees should bring a nonperishable donation for the food bank.

911 SPECIAL NEEDS REGISTRY: Individuals may sign up for the Trumbull County 911 Special Needs Registry Program to put on information on file about their own, their child's or other dependents' special needs. Police, fire and ambulance personnel will then be made aware of special needs en route to emergency calls.
Forms are available at the Trumbull County Commissioners Office, the Trumbull County Recorder's Office, all Trumbull County SCOPE centers or on the county 911 website at www.trumbull911.co.trumbull.oh.us under the "Special Needs" tab.

SCOPE RIDES: SCOPE is partnering with the Trumbull County Transit Board to provide seniors 60 and older free rides to and from the centers. The Trumbull County Transit system delivers rides on a first-come, first-served basis 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekends and holidays.
Call the center directly three days in advance of the desired trip. Some of the centers are providing the service only one or two days per week. Also, those wanting to eat meals at the Cortland, Lordstown, Niles or Warren centers need to let the center know after calling for transportation.
