GIRARD CENTER: The Girard Multi-Generational Center, 443 Trumbull Ave., Girard, is offering its Fitness Stretch Plus classes beginning the week of Aug. 7. Classes will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 9:30 a.m. and Tuesday and Thursday classes will be held at 1:15 p.m. Healthy snacks will be provided following each class.

ANGELS NEEDED: Guardian Angels of Trumbull County, a volunteer program of the Trumbull County Probate Court, is looking for volunteers. Angel volunteers receive training to become advocates who reach out as friends to seniors who may need a phone call, a visit in a nursing home or a visit at home.

TRTA TO MEET: The Trumbull Retired Teachers Association will meet for a noon luncheon on Aug. 8 at Ciminero’s Banquet Centre, 23 Main St., Niles. The August speaker will be Traci Manning from the Mahoning Valley Historical Society. Members can also purchase table arrangements by Mary Fuller with profits donated to Trumbull Mobile Meals Inc.

The Community Services Committee will collect canceled stamps, candle wax, cell phones, eyeglasses, hearing aids and yarn.

Members are encouraged to invite recent retirees to attend the TRTA luncheons. Luncheon reservation forms and membership forms are available on the association website, trumbullrta.wixsite.com/trta.

RETIREE PICNIC: UFCW Local 880 retirees will celebrate 30 years with a picnic with Local 880 Retirees Retail Clerks of Youngstown, 1 p.m. Aug. 8 at Boardman Park on U.S. Route 224 in Boardman. A catered picnic will be provided by Catullo Meats and there will be a 50/50 raffle and bingo.

RETIREE PICNIC: GM, Packard Electric and Delphi IUE Retirees, employees and their families are welcome to a picnic 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 12 at Packard Music Hall and surrounding grounds in Warren. Proceeds will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Parking will be available throughout Packard Park with shuttle service to and from the event. Features include a bounce house, dunk tank, auctions, care show, food vendors, music and discount tickets for the National Packard Museum. The event is sponsored by TLC Insurance Group, IUE-CWA Union and local sponsors.

The day marks the return of the annual IUE-CWA retirees picnic. The picnic will alternate years between Warren and the Dayton area.

SCOPE RIDES: SCOPE is partnering with The Trumbull County Transit to provide seniors 60 and older complimentary rides to and from the centers. The Trumbull County Transit system delivers rides on a first-come, first-served basis 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekends and holidays.

Call the center directly three days in advance of the desired trip. Some of the centers are providing the service on one or two days per week.

NUTRITION SITES AVAILABLE: The Trumbull County Nutrition Program for the Elderly is provided by the Trumbull County Office of Elderly Affairs and operates nutrition sites at 10 locations in the county. Meals will be delivered to county residents 60 and older who are homebound, unable to cook for themselves and not living with someone who can cook for them. Client donations are accepted.
