RAILROAD DISPLAY: An HO scale railroad display of the coal mining days in the Mahoning Valley centered around Mineral Ridge and Niles will be on display 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Moss Ancestral Home, 1499 Burnett St., Mineral Ridge.

The display was created by the Godleski family, who own the Moss Ancestral Home.

The Mineral Ridge Historical Society and the Moss extended family will be available for tours of the 1830s Pennsylvania bank-style home and garage filled with old tools and coal mining equipment.

TRUCK AND JEEP SHOW: The Cortland Veterans Memorial second annual Cortland community Truck and Jeep Show will be 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday along Main Street. Contestant registration is 9 a.m. at $10 per vehicle. Visitor admission is free.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Cortland Community Foundation for the veterans memorial. For information, call Bob at 330-442-9669.

SLOW PITCH REUNION: The Hartford Slow Pitch Reunion will be 1 p.m. Sunday at the Gustavus Township Park on state Route 87, Gustavus. Those attending are asked to bring a dish to share. Utensils and water are provided.

CANDLES FOR VIGIL: The St. Joseph Warren Hospital’s auxiliary is planning a candlelight vigil and memorial service 7 p.m. Aug. 29 at the St. Joe’s Healing Garden, next to the cancer center, 667 Eastland Ave. SE, Warren.

Candles for the event are $10 and will be available for sale from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the hospital cafeteria. Candles purchased by Friday will be included in the event program book.

TOOLBOX WORKSHOP: Ohio History Connection’s Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor will host this summer’s final “Toolbox Workshop: Collection Management Series” 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor, 151 W. Wood St.

Discussion will be on best storage practices for both archives and collection, how to protect collections from potential pests and threats, and where to get necessary materials. The speaker will be Sherri Goudy, local history corps representative for the Logan County History Center in Bellefontaine.
