BASEBALL

Crestview 6, LaBrae 3 — The Rebels plated three runs in the third and three more in the fifth en route to the win over the Vikings. Leading at the plate was Isaac Unkefer with three hits while Zachary Davis drove in a pair of runs. Davis also picked up the win, allowing five hits, walking two and striking out four in five innings. Delviccio was given the loss in 3 1/3 innings, striking out two, walking one and allowing six hits.

Maplewood 12, Pymatuning Valley 2 — The Rockets rattled off 14 hits in the win over the Lakers. Leading the way at the plate for Maplewood was Erwin and Nelson with three hits each while Webster, Logan and Sexton each tallied two hits. Colton Logan earned the win in six innings, striking out 11 and walking two. For PV, Vickery doubled in the loss. Smith was tagged with the loss in five innings, striking out three and walking two.

Warren G. Harding 10, Newton Falls 2 — The Raiders claimed the Thursday contest over the Tigers thanks to a strong offensive outing. Leading the way was Khalef Freeman with a pair of hits, Airiz Coleman Bey homered, singled and had two RBIs, Jacob Borsic drove in three runs and Elias Johnson added a pair of RBIs. Kuhn earned the win, striking out four and walking six. In the loss, Huff homered and singled. Shelton was given the loss, striking out three and walking five.

Champion 7, Brookfield 2 — The Golden Flashes scored at least a run in all but one inning to topple the Warriors. Leading the way at the plate for Champion wasMorris with a pair of hits, Reed drove in two runs, Boggs doubled and singles, Quinby doubled and Hixson drove in a pair of runs. Reed picked up the win, striking out five, walking six and allowing two hits. In the loss offensively, Coleman tripled. Hardman was given the loss in 5 1/3 innings, striking out one, walking two and allowing seven hits.

Hubbard 4, Poland 2 — The Eagles answered the Bulldogs’ two runs in the bottom of the third by taking the lead with three runs in the next half-inning and adding an insurance run an inning later to earn the win. Songer picked up the complete-game win, striking out 12 while walking one and allowing six hits. For Hubbard at the plate, Songer doubled, singled and drove in two runs while Balla singled twice. Tarajack was given the loss in 5 1/3 innings, striking out five, walking two and allowing nine hits. At the plate, Hayes singled twice.

Howland 5, Lakeview 2 — The Tigers claimed the contest over the Bulldogs thanks to jumping to a commanding 4-0 lead in the second inning. Rocco Perkins picked up the win on the bump for Howland, striking out five, walking five and allowing three hits in six innings. At the dish, Bode Biggin and Luca Fronzaglio each drilled a pair of hits. Nicholas Aho was tagged with the loss, striking out one, walking three and allowing four hits.

Canfield 2, Boardman 1 — The 1-1 deadlock was claimed by the Cardinals in walk-off fashion to best the Spartans. Jadallah was given the win in an inning of relief, striking out two and walking two while remaining hitless. At the plate for Canfield, Gabriel and Mancini both singled twice. Nawrocki was given the loss for Boardman, tossing an inning while striking out none, walking none and surrendering three hits.

Grand Valley 2, Mathews 1 — Grand Valley claimed the battle of the Mustangs thanks to two runs in the bottom of the third. The pitcher’s duel was claimed by Plizga with a pair of strikeouts and a walk. At the plate, Souder had a pair of hits. Petak was given the loss, walking three and striking out none.

Jackson-Milton 17, Waterloo 9 — The Blue Jays set the tone early with eight runs in the opening frame en route to the 12-run win over the Vikings. The high-powered Jackson-Milton offense was charged by Henry with a double, three singles and four RBIs, Ruby drove in three runs, Workman lent three singles, Scott singled twice and drove in two runs and McDevitt doubled and singled twice. Workman picked up the win in 4 1/3 innings, striking out nine, walking four and allowing three hits. In the loss offensively, Waterloo was paced by May with a double and two RBIs and Flarida added a pair of singles and RBIs. Simons was given the loss in two innings, allowing three walks and nine hits while striking out none.

Springfield 4, Western Reserve 1 — Jackson Ensley went the distance to earn the Tigers’ win over the Blue Devils. Ensley allowed four hits, struck out two and allowed one free pass. At the plate, Ben Catlos tallied two hits, Ensley helped his cause with a double and two stolen bases and Noah Troggio and Jackson Minetti each had two swiped bags. Cole Dotson was given the loss in 3 1/3 innings. At the plate, Connor Jones had a pair of hits.

Mineral Ridge 10, Niles 6 — The Rams drilled 10 hits in the win over the Red Dragons. The Mineral Ridge offense was led by AJ Sandy with a pair of hits, Jackson Geddes lent a pair of hits and RBIs while Gavin Harding collected two hits and Andrew Gillie, Brodie Molina and Ethan Vestorsky each drove in two runs. On the bump, Gillie earned the win in relief, throwing six innings while striking out seven, walking none and allowing four hits. Niles statistics were not submitted.

Cardinal Mooney 10, Salem 0 (6 inn.) — The Cardinals scored in each inning at the plate and blanked the Quakers defensively to pick up the win. Leading the charge at the plate was Bushey with a double, two singles and three RBIs, Petty singled twice and Oddis had three singles and drove in two runs. Stacy was given the win in five innings, striking out five and allowing two walks and two hits. Rocha was tagged with the loss, striking out one, walking two and allowing five hits.

South Range 7, Struthers 1 — Three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning effectively sealed the deal in the win over the Wildcats. Updegraff picked up the win, striking out three while remaining perfect in all other categories through five innings. At the plate, Klasovsky had three singles and drove in two runs while Starkey singled twice. For Struthers, Scanicky went the distance and was given the loss, striking out four while allowing three walks and eight hits.

Bristol 25, Conneaut 1 (5 inn.) — The Panthers crushed the Spartans thanks to 13 runs in the second inning. The offensive onslaught was charged by Croc Thorp with three singles and two RBIs, Kaiden Kohler doubled, singled and drove in two runs, Keifer Swager doubled, singled three times and drove in three runs, Christian Van Ness drove in three runs, Jack Berry doubled and Ethan Kimak drove in four runs. Laverene Miller picked up the win in three innings, striking out two, walking two and allowing three hits. At the plate for Conneaut, Huya singled twice and Stiltner and Arcaro both doubled. Morrison was given the loss, throwing 1 1/3 innings while striking out none, walking none and allowing seven hits.

Warren JFK 2, Garfield 0 — The combination of Mealy and Bartoe on the bump for Kennedy propelled the Eagles to the shutout win over the G-Men. Mealy picked up the win in six innings, fanning nine while allowing a pair of walks and three hits. Offensively for Kennedy, Bartoe doubled and singled twice while Carfangia doubled. Bogucki was given the complete-game loss, fanning four while allowing nine hits and one walk. At the plate, Hill singled twice for Garfield.

SOFTBALL

Chalker 14, Lordstown 0 — The Wildcats posted six runs in the opening frame and eight more an inning later to dominate the Red Devils. Leading the way at the plate was Kren with a home run and single, Grimm homered, tripled and drove in two runs, Ashcrasft doubled and singled while Hudak lent a double. Hromada tossed a one-hit shutout in five innings, striking out seven and walking three. Morrison was given the loss after an innings, striking out none, walking three and allowing six hits.

Bristol 18, East 6 — The Panthers throttled the Golden Bears thanks to Riley Woodford striking out five and earning the win. At the plate, Kyler Kennedy tripled, doubled, singled and drove in three runs and Skylar Gibson tallied two hits and drove in four runs. East statistics were not submitted.

Champion 11, Berea-Midpark 1 (5 inn.) — The Golden Flashes plated seven runs in the top of the fifth to cap the contest and earn the win. Gabby Gradishar earned the win, tossing a three-hitter while walking one and striking out 10. At the plate, Adalyn McIntosh doubled three times, singled and drove in two runs, Gradishar helped her cause with a home run and two RBIs, Taylor Rouan doubled and drove in three runs, Josie Perhach drove in two runs and Ava Sylvester doubled. For Berea-Midpark, Lauren Fayne was given the loss, striking out six and walking four. Ally Williams doubled and singled and Grace Forgach doubled.

LaBrae 10, Crestview 0 (6 inn.) — Riley Rowe tossed a three-hit shutout to lead the Vikings to the win over the Rebels. Rowe fanned 10 and walked two. At the plate for LaBrae, Bragg doubled twice, DeArmitt homered, doubled and drove in three runs and Allen and Johnson both doubled, singled twice and drove in two runs. In the loss, Cloutier singled twice and Snyder tripled. McKee was given the loss in 2 2/3 innings, striking out four, walking two and allowing seven hits.

Warren G. Harding 12, Brookfield 11 — The Raiders walked-off the Warriors in the high-scoring affair Thursday. Leading the Harding offense was Hayes with a double and single, Phillips doubled, singled twice and drove in four runs, Trisler added a pair of RBIs and Myrick singled twice. Trisler picked up the complete-game win, striking out 10, walking three and allowing 11 hits. In the loss, Jumper homered, doubled, singled and drove in five runs, Obermiyer doubled, singled and drove in two runs and Teal singled twice and had three RBIs. Obermiyer was given the loss in 6 2/3 innings, striking out 12, walking four and allowing 11 hits.

Canfield 5, Fitch 4 — The Cardinals walked off the Falcons thanks to a Caylee Ortiz bases-loaded single. Ortiz also belted a home run to lead Canfield. In the win, Marina Koenig doubled and singled, Sydney Lutz doubled and drove in two runs and Triveri doubled. In the loss at the plate, Toth homered, singled twice and drove in two runs, Ray singled twice, Rogers tripled and singled, Folkwein belted a home run and Coates singled twice.

Howland 18, Columbiana 10 — It was a shootout Thursday as the Tigers toppled the Clippers to claim the high-scoring affair despite falling by five after the opening half inning.. Leading the way at the dish for Howland was Moy with a double and two singles, Schmitz homered, doubled and had four RBIs, Deeter doubled, singled and had a pair of RBIs, Tatar and Kubancsek each homered, singled twice and had three RBIs, Luman had a pair of singles and VanNess drove in two runs. Tatar earned the win, striking out 10, walking two and allowing eight hits. Offensively in the loss, Hepler had a pair of singles, Pleska and Perkins both homered, singled and drove in two runs, Smith singled twice and drove in two runs, Hogan lent a pair of RBIs and Brode doubled. Brode was tagged with the loss striking out two, walking four and allowing nine hits.

Maplewood 9, Pymatuning Valley 8 (8 inn.) — In game two of the doubleheader, the Rockets walked off the Lakers in the lone extra inning. The potent Maplewood offense was headed by Urchek with a pair of hits, Marker homered and singled, R. Krieg doubled and drove in two runs, Woomer had two doubles, two singles and drove in four runs and L. Krieg had a pair of singles. Marker went the distance for Maplewood and earned the win, striking out five, walking none and allowing 11 hits. In the loss at the plate,

Maplewood 10, Pymatuning Valley 1 — In game one of a doubleheader, the Rockets pummeled the Lakers thanks to three runs in the opening frame to set the tone. Leading the way at the plate was Urchek with three hits, Marker belted a home run, singled twice and drove in four runs and S. Krieg had a pair of RBIs. Marker also picked up the win in the circle, striking out eight, walking three and scattering two hits. In the loss, Payne doubled for the Lakers. Hudson was given the loss in five innings, striking out eight, walking seven and allowing 10 hits.

Hubbard 8, St. Vincent-St. Mary 2 — The Eagles posted eight runs in the bottom of the third en route to the win over the Irish. The nine-hit offense was led by Komorek with a triple and two singles while Masluk and Songer drove in two runs each. Taylor earned the win in six innings, striking out five, walking one and allowing three hits. In the loss, Zajac doubled and Eckroad drove in two runs. In the circle, Krabill was given the loss for SVSM, striking out two, walking two and allowing nine hits.

South Range 8, Poland 3 — Three runs in the opening frame set cadence to the Raiders’ win over the Bulldogs. The South Range offense was led by Spooner with a pair of singles, Winner doubled, singled and drove in four runs and DeJesus tripled. DeJesus also picked up the win in three innings, striking out two while allowing a walk and four hits. For Poland, Lillian McDonald was given the loss in the circle, striking out one, walking four and allowing four hits in two innings.

Girard 11, Beaver Local 1 (6 inn.) — The Indians set the tone early with a pair of runs and cruised to the win over the Beavers. The 11-hit offense was paced by Quinn Wilster with two singles, Gianna Saxon doubled, singled twice and drove in three runs, Kyra Bell doubled, singled and had three RBIs while Ava Serrano singled twice. Chloe Plant picked up the complete game win, striking out four while walking none and allowing five hits. Call was given the loss in three innings, striking out five while walking two and allowing two hits.

Badger 7, Bloomfield 0 — Samantha Bradbury tossed a complete-game three-hit shutout to launch the Braves to the win over the Cardinals. Bradbury struck out 14 while allowing three walks. At the plate, Kiyah Scharfenberg singled twice. Tessa Gwinn was given the loss in 4 1/3 innings, striking out four while walking one and allowing five hits.
