South Range 10, Greenfield (SC) 3 — The Raiders started off strong in the first few innings, plating nine runs in the second and third to cruise to the win over the Knights. Leading the way for South Range offensively was Lincoln Cleevely with a double, single and two RBIs, Gaven Nagy doubled, tripled, singled and drove in two runs, Nico Papuga tripled and drove in three runs, while Brennen Klasovsky and Julian Tranovich each doubled. Klasovsky was given the complete-game win, fanning six, walking none and allowing seven hits. In the loss, Clark Johnson doubled and singled, Tristan Stancil doubled, Simon Quinn tripled and Joseph Popowitch drove in a pair of runs. Zach McKenzie was given the loss in three innings, walking two, allowing nine hits and striking out two.
Ursuline 10, Columbiana 0 — The Fighting Irish opened the scoring with seven runs in the bottom of the first and cruised to the win over the Clippers. Leading at the plate for Ursuline was AJ Snyder with a pair of singles and RBIs, Luke Strony and Jake Bednar each lent a pair of singles while Anthony Triveri and Luke Kollar each doubled. Thomas Kosovan picked up the win in six innings of shutout ball, walking none, fanning 11 and allowing three hits. In the loss, Max Conway doubled. Reese Roush was given the loss, throwing 2/3 innings in which he struck out one, walked three and scattered five hits.
Mineral Ridge 1, Springfield 0 — In the close contest, the Rams edged out the Tigers, thanks to a lone run to open the game. Winning the pitcher’s duel was Xavier Klamer with a complete-game one-hitter in which he fanned 11 and walked four. At the plate, Jack Gillie, Klamer, Nick Anderson and Andrew Gillie each singled. Payton Novak was given the loss, tossing seven innings while giving up four hits.
Jackson-Milton 23, Campbell 2 (5 inn.) — The Blue Jays put up 14 runs in the third inning in the 21-run routing of the Red Devils. At the plate for Jackson-Milton, Dom Krol doubled and drove in two runs, Caden Ruby singled three times and drove in two runs, Joey Modarelli and Jaiden Scott each drove in two runs while Landon Workman added a double. James Croyle was credited with the win in 2 2/3 innings, fanning seven, walking three and allowing one hit. Pano Kolidakis singled twice. Josue Rodriguez was given the loss in two innings, fanning four, walking three and allowing four hits.
Fitch 5, Villa Angela-St. Joseph 1 — The Falcons plated three runs in the bottom of the opening frame and rode that momentum to the win over the Vikings, thanks to timely hits and a solid pitching performance. On the bump for Fitch, Carter Owens tossed a complete game, fanning 11 while walking one and allowing five hits to pick up the win. At the dish for Fitch, Frank Senediak doubled and singled, Jackson Cheeks hustled out a triple and singled, Danko singled twice and Owens helped his cause with a double. Brady McNulty was given the loss, throwing six innings while walking three, allowing 10 hits and striking out two. Offensively for VASJ, Ray Eppich singled twice.
SOFTBALL
Cardinal Mooney 26, Warren JFK 11 (5 inn.) — The high scoring affair went the way of the Cardinals, thanks to 11 runs in the second and 10 more an inning later to crush the Eagles. Leading Mooney offensively was Grace Rinaldi with a home run, two more hits and six RBIs, Angela Bettura added three more hits and four RBIs, Delanie Olesh had three hits while Giada DeSantis, Kennedi McVittie and Hannah Laplante each added a pair of hits. Julianna Ramos was given the win in five innings, fanning eight and walking two while scattering 13 hits. Kennedy statistics were not submitted.
Columbiana 20, Leetonia 1 (5 inn.) — The Clippers posted 11 runs to open the game and sailed to the crushing win over the Bears. In the circle for Columbiana, Peyton Stoy threw five innings while she gave up five hits, walked four and fanned eight. At the plate in the win, Kyla Hogan doubled, Caitlynn Pleska belted a home run and drove in three, Addison Brode singled and drove in three runs, Cameron Perkins singled and had a pair of RBIs while Anna Yonker added a double. Carli Simms was given the loss in an inning, allowing four hits, scattering four hits and fanning none.
Hubbard 6, Hickory (Pa.) 4 — The Eagles did all of their scoring in the first three innings and those six runs proved enough as the defense stood tall and held the Hornets at bay to earn the win. Leading the offensive charge was Lauren Komorek with a home run, double and two RBIs and Layla Songer added a double and single. On the rubber, Kaylee Schultz earned the complete-game win, fanning six, walking five and allowing eight hits. For the Hornets, Guiliana Palazzo was given the loss in six innings, walking four, striking out six and allowing 10 hits. At the plate in the loss, Laney Hand singled three times while Palazzo singled twice and drove in two runs.
Mineral Ridge 15, Springfield 3 (5 inn.) — The Rams scored in each inning of the shortened game with the exclamation mark being eight runs in the fourth frame to cruise to the win over the Tigers. Megan Haynie paced Mineral ridge with a pair of hits while Sulllivan Sandy tripled and Maddie Gerberry doubled and drove in three runs. In the circle, Savannah Turek allowed three hits in five innings while walking none and fanning a career-high 10 batters.
Mathews 19, Bloomfield 0 — Ashia Pate and Alexis McLaughlin combined for a no-hitter while the Mathews offense exploded to put up 19 runs in the win over the Cardinals. Pate was credited with the win. Leading the offensive onslaught was Rilee Paddock with a home run, double and four RBIs, Ava Shugart lent a double, two singles and three RBIs and Pate helped her cause with a double, two singles and three RBIs as well.
Mathews 4, Johnstown Monroe 1 — Thanks to Ashia Pate’s dominant, 14-strikeout performance in the circle for the Mustangs, Mathews toppled the Johnnies. The hurler allowed only one hit in the win. At the plate for Mathews, Mia Delbarbino doubled and singled while Livy Matheny doubled and tripled.
East Carteret (NC) 7, South Range 5 — The Raiders tried to claw their way back but came up short as the Mariners claimed the contest. East Carteret plated six runs in the first three innings and South Range cut the lead to two, but an additional insurance run in the top of the seventh sealed the deal for the Mariners. In the loss offensively, Spooner singled twice and Wilt and DeCiancio each doubled and singled. Wilt was also given the loss in one inning, allowing a hit, walking four and striking out one. In the win, Lewis drove in a pair of runs and Gillikin singled twice. Lewis was credited with the win, throwing four innings while allowing five hits and walking and striking out zero.
Canfield 21, Trinity Christian (WV) 3 (5 inn.) — Posting 16 runs in their first two trips to the plate launched the Cardinals to the crushing win over the Warriors. Leading the explosive offense was Alexa Ignazio with three singles, Leah Figueroa, Sami Economous and Ava Millich each singled and tripled, with the two former driving in two and three runs, respectively, Jenna Triveri and Alexis Johnson each singled, doubled and drove in three and two runs, respectively and Marina Koenig and Sydney Lutz each had a pair of singles. Caylee Ortiz picked up the win in four innings, allowing two hits and striking out four.
Fitch 9, Lewisville (SC) 1 — The Falcons set the tone early with three runs to open the game and cruised to the win over the Lions. At the plate for Fitch, Kaliana Ray swiped four bases, Alyssa Rodgers singled twice and stole three bags, Morgan Roby singled twice and Abby Toth and Kylie Folkwein each drove in a pair of runs. Picking up the win on the rubber was Tori Greathouse who struck out five. In the loss for Lewisville, Aubree Smith doubled. Sarah Oles was given the loss.
Lakeview 10, Lewisville (SC) 5 — Six runs in the middle innings were the difference maker for the Bulldogs in the win over the Lions. The offensive charge was led by Kennedy Bartlett with a triple and two singles, Mackenzie Stowe lent a pair of RBIs and Annaliese Dejulio tripled and singled. In the circle, Isabella Isenberg picked up the complete-game win, fanning eight, walking one and allowing five hits. At the plate for Lewisville, Sarah Owens tripled and singled. Abby Barnes was given the loss in 4 1/3 innings, allowing nine hits, walking two and striking out two.
Lakeview 3, North Myrtle Beach 0 — Ava Bacon was effective in the circle for the Bulldogs in the win over the Chiefs. The hurler tossed a complete-game shutout, allowing only two hits, one walk and struck out nine. At the plate for Lakeview, Annaliese Dejulio drilled a pair of singles and Mackenzie Stowe tripled to lead the Bulldogs. For North Myrtle Beach, Lockner was given the complete-game loss, fanning four, walking two and allowing five hits. Offensively for the Chiefs, Bendik tripled.
