BOYS BASKETBALL
Bristol 55, Grand Valley 50 — The Panthers handed the Mustangs their first loss of the season with a close, five-point win. Brody Smith earned top-scorer status for Bristol with 16 points while Kaiden Kohler lent 11 and Ryan Church chipped in another 10 to level the leading scorers for the Panthers. Carter Turk’s 16 points paced Grand Valley in the loss with Solly Schultz added 12 and Peyton Plizga collecting 11.
Mathews 64, Lordstown 19 — The Mustangs’ 49-point first half was more than enough to breeze past the Red Devils Tuesday night. Nearly all who played contributed in some fashion offensively, but Dom Toto led the charge with 12 points. Kam Kester and Logan Linkesh each added 10 points to level the leading scorers. For Lordstown, Ganon Force led with eight points in the loss.
Poland 64, Lakeview 59 — In the battle of the Bulldogs, Poland arose victorious Tuesday night. Oliver McCully drilled a trio of triples en route to a 20-point total to lead the victors, while Carmine Tukalo chipped in another 17 points for Poland. For Lakeview, the scoring was shouldered by five players, but Isaiah Lantz’ 16 points led the charge with Preston Littleton was right behind with 15 points and Jaden Warner tallied 10.
South Range 60, Hubbard 51 — The Raiders claimed their third consecutive win with a victory over the Eagles Tuesday night. South Range carried momentum from a strong first quarter to propel them to the win. Luke Rohan led the Raiders with 22 points, while Graham Heikkinen lent 12 and Nate Lewis added 10 to level the South Range leading scorers. The Eagles were led by Jacob Hayes who tallied 21 points and Kenyen Franklin with 14.
Maplewood 55, Chalker 30 — The Rockets toppled the Wildcats to break a two-game skid. Ethan Nevinski led the offensive charge, totaling 18 points Tuesday night and Kenyan Clover lent 12 points in the win. For Chalker, Chase Learn led with seven points.
Girard 52, Struthers 41 — Taking a slim lead into halftime, the Indians scored 25 points in the second half to claim victory over the Wildcats. Dom Phillips led all scorers with 16 points for Girard behind a pair of three’s and a handful of field goals. Cam Herrick and Dom Tolone contributed to the win with 13 and 12 points, respectively. In the loss, Tyzjere Price led Struthers with nine points.
Kennedy 70, Lowellville 42 — A stellar 39-point first half launched the Eagles to the dominant win over the Rockets. Nick Ryan tallied 21 points in the first half for Kennedy to lead all scoring, while Christian Swogger knocked down four three-point shots and made a free throw to get to 13 points Tuesday night and Henry Phillips added 11 to round out the Kennedy leading scorers. In the loss, Drew Modelski posted an impressive 20 points and Josh Pazel contributed 11 to lead Lowellville.
Canfield 58, Fitch 57 (2OT) — Tuesday night’s matchup against the Cardinals and Falcons needed two overtimes to decide a winner with Canfield coming out on top by a single point. Canfield’s Drew Shaprio claimed the top spot for the Cardinals with 13 points with Bryce Roberts adding 11 and Jake Delisio lending 10 to earn Canfield the win. In the close loss, Marcel Finkley drilled seven three-pointer’s on his way to a game-high 28 points for Fitch. Carter Owens added 12 points in the loss as well.
Columbiana 61, Wellsville 46 — The Clippers’ 30-point first half propelled them to the dominant win over the Tigers. Seth Struharik made three baskets from three-point land en route to a game-high 20 points for Columbiana, while Cooper Brown added 17 more to lead the Clippers. For Wellsville, Tyrell Watkins tallied 15 points and Andrew Mackey was right behind with 14 points to lead the Tigers.
Marlington 55, Salem 36 — The Dukes never let off the breaks after grabbing hold of a 13-point lead in the first quarter over the Quakers. Sam Yoder led the Marlington offensive onslaught, making three shots from beyond the arc on his way to 20 total points. Dylan Heatherington added 13 points for Marlington and Cam Evanich lent 10 as well. For Salem, Cletis Monroy led with 13 points in the loss.
Valley Christian 69, Lisbon 45 — An explosive, 27-point fourth quarter springboarded the Eagles to the big win over the Blue Devils. Valley Christian had a gaggle of players score in the double digits, but 19 points from Miller led the way with Robinson chipping in 14 points and the duo of Coward and Riley contributing 13 points each. In the loss, AJ Ramgeet tallied a team-high 17 points for Lisbon and Aiden Ramgeet lent another 11.
Carrollton 48, West Branch 45 — West Branch fought tooth and nail Tuesday night but came up a possession short as Carrollton ultimately claimed the close contest. Tayvian Johnson led all scorers with 15 points for Carrollton while the duo of Bryce Lonca and Jayven Johnson each added 10 points. In the loss, Cooper Anderson recorded a double-double, posting 12 points and 10 rebounds for West Branch while Camden Lane added 10 points.
Hoover 63, Boardman 48 — At Boardman, Hoover was just too much for the Spartans. Terrell McDowell led all scorers with 22 points, and Kaden Mayhew chipped in eight. However, the Vikings had three in double figures, with Hunter Hershberger leading the charge with 19 points. Crew Cain was right behind with 16 points, and Robert Oster added 15.

LaBrae 49, Liberty 14 — The Vikings started strong and kept a hold of a huge lead to topple the Leopards. Nearly all on the scoresheet for LaBrae tallied a basket, but Angel Scruggs led all scorers with 10 points for the Vikings. Liberty’s Ar’Mani Franklin led the Leopards with eight points in the loss.
