MINERAL RIDGE — The Austintown Fitch Falcons bounced back from their first loss of the season last week with a commanding 42-7 victory over the Cardinal Mooney Cardinals Friday night on the road at Mineral Ridge.

Senior quarterback Devin Sherwood led the way for the Falcons, completing 20 of his 28 pass attempts for 280 yard and three touchdowns. Tyler Evans broke the scoring open in the first quarter, catching Sherwood’s first touchdown pass of the night for a 38 yard score.

Sherwood would add a three yard touchdown pass to Dan Evans III in the second quarter and then a 51 yard pass to Evans III in the third as well. Sherwood also ran for a two yard score in the second quarter.

It wasn’t just the talented senior thought that led the Falcons to another victory. Cam Smith rushed for 20 yards but scored twice on the ground and Tyler Evans caught 6 passes for 122 yards.

Smith scored on a 1 yard run in the first quarter and a 1 yard run in the fourth to conclude the scoring.

Defensively, Kylen Foster tallied 10 total tackles for Fitch and Noah Thoams tallied eight while also picking off a pass.
