Curbstone fame event set

The Curbstone Coaches’ 53rd annual Hall of Fame banquet ceremony is scheduled May 3 at Mr. Anthony’s Banquet Center on South Avenue in Boardman. The group will induct 12 new members into its Hall of Fame.

The keynote speaker that day will be former Ohio State and NFL quarterback Mike Tomczak. Tomczak grew up in Calumet City, Illinois, where he earned Illinois High School Player of The Year honors in 1981.

He received a scholarship from Ohio State and played for the Buckeyes, leading them to two Big Ten titles. After college he played in the NFL for the Chicago Bears (1985-1990), Green Bay Packers (1991), Cleveland Browns (1992) and Pittsburgh Steelers (1993-1999)
