Scrappers back to .500

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – A four-run eighth inning put the Scrappers past Williamsport and back over .500.

The Scrappers struck first in the third inning with a line drive to right field by Brayan Rocchio that would score Joab Gonzalez.

Williamsport took control of the game the very next inning with Jake Holmes and Hunter Hearn both singling to right field, scoring Johan Rojas and Bryson Stott respectively.

Later on in the seventh inning, Croscutters third baseman Nate Fassnacht blasted a home run to right center field to give them 3-1 lead. A wild pitch by Scrappers reliever Jose Oca and throwing error by Bryan Lavastida scored Williamsport catcher Herbert Iser for the Crosscutters’ final run.

The Scrappers took control right back. Lavastida doubled on a fly ball to right field that scored Rocchio and put George Valera into scoring position. Yanier Diaz then hit a sacrifice ground ball that scored Valera putting the Scrappers down one.

Johnathan Rodriguez hit a triple that scored Lavastida and then reached home himself off of a fielding error by Williamsport second baseman Nicolas Torres for a 5-4 lead.

Jerson Ramirez came into the game and struck out two of the three batters to finish the game off with a 5-4 Scrappers victory.

The win puts the Scrappers 3.5 games back of the Pinckney Division lead. They face the Crosscutters again tonight at 7:05.
