MV hammers Auburn

AUBURN, N.Y. — Yanier Diaz was 3-for-5 with five RBIs to lead Mahoning Valley past Auburn on Monday, 9-3.

Diaz had a solo home run in the second inning, a sacrifice fly in the third and two-run single in the fourth as the Scrappers scored seven of their runs in those frames.

Francisco Perez limited the Doubledays to three hits over five innings. Gregori Vasquez pitched the remainder and earned the save, despite giving up three runs.

The two teams face off again tonight, starting at 7 p.m.
