3 Scrappers pitchers fire no-hitter

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Hunter Gaddis, Matt Waldron and Luis Sanchez each threw three innings and combined for 11 strikeouts as the Mahoning Valley Scrappers no-hit the Williamsport Crosscutters Thursday, 8-0.

Gaddis started and threw six strikeouts in the first three innings, while Waldron had four in the middle three and four strikeouts. Sanchez had a strikeout and earned his fourth save in the final three innings.

The only minor missteps for Mahoning Valley (32-32) was a walk by Waldron and an error by Henderson De Oleo.

Bryan Lavastida and Jonathan Lopez led the Scrappers offense with a combined 3-for-8 effort with four RBIs. Lopez had a two-run single in a five-run first inning to blast the Crosscutters (26-38).

Williamsport starter Junior Tejada was tattooed in 1/3 of an inning for six runs (five earned).

The Scrappers are four games back of the New York-Penn League Pinckney Division leading Batavia Muckdogs.
