Former major leaguers Kucek, Bream to speak at Hubbard

HUBBARD — Former major leaguers Jack Kucek and Sid Bream are scheduled to speak at the fifth annual Spring Training Dinner hosted by the Hubbard High School Baseball Booster Club March 14 at 6:30 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.

The event serves to raise funds for the high school baseball field and the Eagles’ baseball program.

Kucek, a Newton Falls native, pitched for seven seasons (1974-80) in the majors with the White Sox, Phillies and Blue Jays. Bream played from 1983-94 with the Dodgers, Blue Jays, Pirates, Braves and Astros.

In addition, Hubbard coach John Schiraldi and his staff will give an overview of the 2019 Eagles baseball program.

Doors open at 6:30 with a buffet dinner served beginning at 7. Tickets are $10 per person and are limited to 250. Tickets are available at Eagle Wear and Devine’s Shop-N-Save, both located on Main Street in Hubbard. Fans may also sponsor a Hubbard baseball player for $10 per ticket. There will be no tickets sold the night of the event.

The event is being presented by Hubbard’s Greenwood Chevrolet with support from Belleria Pizza & Italian restaurants, Hubbard Walgreens, Eagle Wear, Devine’s Shop and Save, McDonald’s restaurant (John and Michelle Perdue) in Hubbard, Bodine Perry and the John Zidian Company.
