Persons, Daugherty lead Junior Masters qualifying

After four games of qualifying Saturday at Champion Lanes, Mason Persons leads the boys division with a score of 789 (197 average) and Katelyn Daugherty leads the girls division with a 769 (192 average) in the 30th Warren Junior Masters bowling tournament.

Among the field are last year’s winners, Jessica Guesman (two-time winner) and Caleb Johnson.

High games Saturday for the boys were Persons, 256, Adrian Willoughby 243 and Johnson 210. The girls high games were Guesman 222, Daugherty 205 and Susan Decker 192.

The field of 17 boys and six girls will roll the second round of qualifying today at McKinley Lanes starting at noon. Round three of qualifying will be at Cortland Lanes on Nov. 12, starting at 2 p.m.

The top four girls and the top six boys will advance to head-to-head competition, starting at 1 p.m. Nov. 13 at Freeway Lanes, where they will compete for $600 in scholarship money.
