Lakeview tabs Bellino
CORTLAND — Lakeview’s new head football coach became official Monday after a unanimous vote at a Board of Education meeting.
Pending documentation, Samuel Bellino will be the head football coach of the Bulldogs for the 2021/2022 season.
Speaking of Bellino, Superintendent Velina Jo Taylor said the district is excited to welcome him to the community.
“I think his youth and his enthusiasm are two really big things,” Taylor said. “He’s bringing a fresh face to the program, and I’m very hopeful he can build a lot of bridges and encourage a lot more people to take part in the program.”
Board member Don Galbreath and high school principal Lawrence Herrholtz spoke highly of him, saying Bellino is a great coach.
Bellino was previously the defensive coordinator for the past five seasons at Hubbard High School. Bellino was on the Hubbard staff the past eight seasons, helping the Eagles to six playoff berths and three trips to a regional title game.
Bellino will replace Tom Pavlansky, who coached the Bulldogs for the past 22 seasons before taking the Poland head coaching job in February.
