Lakeview boys finish 5th at state
COLUMBUS — Lakeview’s boys bowling team placed fifth on Saturday at the Division II state tournament after running into eventual state champion, Mechanicsburg in the quarterfinal round of the head-to-head elimination finals.
The Bulldogs placed fourth in the qualifying rounds, bowling a 3,439 total. Against Mechanicsburg, Lakeview fell behind, dropping the first two contests, but forced a decisive game five, winning 217-200 in game three and 178-127 in game four. The Bulldogs wound up falling short in the fifth game, 202-188.
Conner Pawlosky led the Bulldogs with a 634 pin count, good enough for the 11th-best individual total.
Pawlosky’s brother Charles placed 13th, tallying 619 pins and sophomore Sebastian Ruddy placed 18th with a 610.
Matthew Angell of Champion finished 10th as an individual, rolling a 637.
Mechanicsburg went on to beat Versailles in four games in the semifinal, then Fairport Harbor in three games in the final to win the state title.
