Howland’s Mindek wins at district
Howland High School senior Jared Mindek will be competing in his fourth consecutive Division II state swimming and diving championship this week after capturing the 100-yard beaststroke title in 57.18 seconds Friday in the district meet at the Spire Institute in Geneva.
The top two finishers in each swimming event in Divisions I and II automatically qualified to the state meet, which begins Wednesday at C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton and concludes on Saturday. The Division I district results on Saturday had not been released by press time.
At-large qualifying berths to the state meet will be based on times statewide and will be announced today.
