¯ HOWLAND 69, BOARDMAN 54: HOWLAND — A stong effort by the Tigers in the middle quarters propelled them past Boardman. Howland outscored the Spartans 46-26 in the second and third quarters to pull away from Boardman.
Alyssa Pompelia led the Tigers with 18 points. Courtney Clark scored 11 and Alyssa Massucci added nine.
¯ BADGER 47, CHALKER 46: VERNON — The Braves battled back from a 21-9 first quarter deficit to get the win over Chalker. The Braves outscored the Wildcats 27-14 in the second half to rally back and get the win.
Grace Popovich and Calena Jablonski led Badger with 11 points each. Mackenzie Gross added 10.
Bella Woods hit five 3-pointers for Chalker for 15 points. Payton Brook and Livia Rhodes added 11 each.
¯ CANFIELD 54, FITCH 28: AUSTINTOWN — Marissa Ieraci scored 15 points for the Cardinals in a big win over Fitch.
Zayda Creque and Jocelyn Jourdan led the Falcons with nine points each.
BOYS BASKETBALL
¯ CHAMPION 48, GIRARD 45: GIRARD — The Golden Flashes fought off a 21-point third quarter from Girard to get the win.
After being outscored 21-15 in the third quarter, Champion outscored the Indians 10-5 to re-establish their lead and move to 1-1 on the season.
Austin Willforth led the team with 16 points and Trayvon Edwards added 10.
Leading for Girard (0-1) was Bobby Alejars who scored 16 points. Thomas Cardiero scored 14 and Nick Cario added 10.
¯ MATHEWS 68, WINDHAM 59: WINDHAM — Vinny Sharp scored a game-high 31 points for the Mustangs in a win over Windham. Sharp had six 3-pointers to reach 31 points. Dominic Greenwood added 17 points for Mathews.
Mikiylen Jones scored 25 points for the Bombers.

¯ HOWLAND 65, URBAN SCHOLARS 26: HOWLAND — The Tigers get their season off on the right foot, opening a 42-10 halftime lead against the Academy of Urban Scholars.
Anthony Massucci led Howland with 12 points.
