Harding girls win, Howland loses by 1
¯ HARDING 64, FITCH 29: AUSTINTOWN — The Raiders high-powered offense continued its success, taking down Fitch Wednesday in a league win.
Faith Burch led Harding with 20 points. Diamond Phillips scored 17 and Kamarah Bender added 16.
Zayda Creque led Fitch with 11 points.
¯ CARDINAL MOONEY 50, HOWLAND 49: HOWLAND — The Cardinals fought off a second-half rush by Howland to get a one-point victory over the Tigers.
Howland outscored Mooney 31-24 in the second half to push back, but it wasn’t enough to take the lead.
Katie Hough led Mooney (6-4) with 24 points and Angelina Rotunno added 11.
The Tigers were led by Taylor Lawrence who had 13 points. Alyssa Pompelia paced Howland (1-2) with 11.
¯ MAPLEWOOD 36, CHALKER 28: MECCA — Baylie Starcher scored 26 points for the Rockets in a win over Chalker.
Starcher’s 26 points was a game-high with Marissa Ventura scoring 12 and freshman Caleigh Richards adding nine.
Leading for Chalker was Livia Rhodes who scored nine.
¯ PYMATUNING VALLEY 59, LORDSTOWN 31: LORDSTOWN — The Lakers had three players reach double-figures in a league win over Lordstown.
Cass Clute led for Pymatuning Valley with 19 points. Alaina Neczeoprenko scored 16 points and Ellie Struna added 15.
The Lakers move to 4-3 and 4-0 in the Northeastern Athletic Conference, while Lordstown falls to 0-1 in and out of league play.
¯ KENNEDY CATHOLIC 63, URSULINE 53: HERMITAGE, Pa. — The Irish crossed state lines for a tough challenge, holding tough with the Eagles, but Urusline couldn’t seal the deal and fell to 4-4 Wednesday.
Alayna Smith Scored 21 points for the Fighting Irish and Anisah Moorman added 11.
Ursuline played Kennedy Catholic tough, but were outscored in each quarter, allowing them to pull away.
¯ BRISTOL 65, CHAMPION 41: BRISTOLVILLE — The Panthers moved to 4-2 on the year after a win over Champion.
Nick Church led Bristol with 22 points. Mikey Burbach scored 12 and brought down eight rebounds.
Leading for Champion was Austin Willforth who had 12 points and led with four rebounds. Chase Lindsay added 11 points.
Champion falls to 2-4 while the Panthers move to 4-2 on the season.
¯ MAPLEWOOD 73, CHALKER 62: MECCA — The Rockets pick up their first win of the season, taking down Chalker.
Logan Burggraf had a strong performance for Maplewood, tallying 32 points. Alex Donaldson added nine.
The Wildcats had three scorers reach double-figures with Jordan Kellar leading with 18. James Stull and Trey Redding added 17 and 13 points respectively.
Maplewood moves to 1-3 on the year.
¯ NEWTON FALLS 71, WINDHAM 62: WINDHAM — Josh Honeycutt scored 26 points for the Tigers (2-0) in a win over Windham.
Honeycutt had a game-high for Newton Falls and was followed up by Joey Kline who had 18.
Leading for Windham was MiKiylen Jones who scored 20 points. Bert Jones scored 19 and Chase Eye added 10.
¯ BROOKFIELD 63, GRAND VALLEY 58: BROOKFIELD — The Mustangs outscored Brookfield in the second half but it wasn’t enough to get the win.
Grand Valley outscored the Warriors 18-17 in the third quarter and 16-15 in the fourth, but Brookfield’s 31-24 halftime lead was too much to overcome in the end.
Isaiah Jones led Brookfield as one of four double-figure scorers. Jones had a double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds.
Haden Gibson scored 14, Donovan Pawlowski scored 13 and David Pawlowski added 10.
Derek Jackson and Nate Boiarski both led Grand Valley with 16 points each. Hogan Hejduk and Ethan Spencer added 14 and 10 points respectively.
