Mineral Ridge, Girard eliminated from playoffs

¯ NORWAYNE 55, MINERAL RIDGE 14: CRESTON — Norwayne held the Rams to 177 yards and only allowed two second-half scores in a Division VI, Region 21 second-round playoff rout.

The Bobcats (7-0) ran for 325 yards and six touchdowns. They led 21-0 at halftime and scored 28 third-quarter points to put the game out of reach. They play Canton Central Catholic next Saturday.

Shakir Perkins paced Mineral Ridge (4-4) on the ground with 35 yards on 10 carries. Quarterback Mark Bunch completed 13-of-24 passes for 99 yards and two TDs.

¯ NORTHWEST 52, GIRARD 29: CANAL FULTON — Girard had a consistent scoring attack, but it wasn’t enough to get past Northwest in a Division IV, Region 13 matchup.

Andrew DelGarbino did most of Girard’s offensive damage through the air, finishing the night with 270 yards and a touchdown pass. He also had 56 yards on the ground.

Nick Bengala had the touchdown reception, on a 24-yard strike from DelGarbino.

Girard (3-5) opened the game with an 85-yard kickoff return by Preston Mays.

¯ SOUTH RANGE 55, HARRISON CENTRAL 14: NORTH LIMA — South Range pulled away from the Huskies in a Division V, Region 17 second-round playoff game.

The Raiders (7-0), who play Beachwood next Saturday, led 27-14 at halftime and scored 28 unanswered points — 21 in the third quarter — to put the game away.

Dylan Dominguez ran for 116 yards and three touchdowns on 10 carries for South Range. Quarterback Michael Patrone complted 4-of-7 passes for 188 yards two TDs. He also ran for 72 yards and one TD. Luke Crumbacher caught three passes for 173 yards and two TDs. He averaged 57.6 yards per catch.

¯ CRESTVIEW 33, SOUTHEAST 0: COLUMBIANA — Crestview held the Pirates to 78 total yards in a dominating Division V, Region 17 victory in a second-round playoff game.

The Rebels (5-1) now play Garfield next Saturday in a regional quarterfinal. They ran for 297 yards and three touchdowns against Southeast (4-4). William Hardenbrook paced the ground game with 133 yards and one TD. Ethan Powell added 124 yards on 24 yards. Brandon Yanssens kicked two field goals and and also returned an interception for a touchdown.
