Four area high school basketball players and two coaches earned top honors in the Northeast Inland All-District selections that were announced today. The teams were selected by a panel of media members who cover Northeast Inland District schools.

McDonald senior Zach Rasile, who has rocketed to second place on Ohio’s all-time high school boys basketball scoring list with his 38.3 points per game scoring average, is the Player of the Year in Division IV.

Rasile has led the Blue Devils to a berth in the regional tournament. McDonald (22-3) faces Lucas at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Canton Fieldhouse. John F. Kennedy (12-13) faces Richmond Heights in the other semifinal at 6:15 on Tuesday.

Springfield senior Drew Clark, who averaged 19.4 points per game, is co-player of the year in Division III. He shares the honor with Vaughn Dorsey of Waterloo.

Dorsey and his Vikings defeated Clark and his Tigers in the district title game at Salem.

On the girls side, juniors Jackie Grisdale of Poland and Emma Gumont of Champion were named players of the year in Divisions II and III, respectively.

Grisdale, who averages 18.5 points per game, led the Bulldogs to the district title game at Austintown Fitch.
