Bristol claims NAC title; Flashes top MR
¯ BRISTOL 87, NEWBURY 29: BRISTOLVILLE — Bristol won the Northeastern Athletic Conference title with a dominant victory over the Black Knights.
Matt Church recorded a double-double in the victory, with a game-high 24 points to go along with 10 rebounds. He was one of four players to score in double figures. Mike Wiebe added 14 points and seven assists, while Seth Mooney put in 16 points, including four 3s, and Matt Stephens contributed 11 points.
The Panthers (17-4, 15-1) led 25-10 after one quarter and removed all doubt with a 26-3 run in the second.
John Tropf paced Newbury with 13 points.
¯ CHAMPION 80, MINERAL RIDGE 57: CHAMPION — Champion was hot from the start in a non-conference rout of the Rams.
The Golden Flashes (11-11) scored at least 21 points in each of the first three quarters and had four players score in double figures. A 24-13 edge in the second quarter pushed their lead to 15 by halftime, and they put the game out of reach with an eight-point advantage in the third.
Champion’s Abe Bayus scored a team-high 17 points. Nick Stahlman (15 points), Chase Lindsay (13) and Austin Willforth (10) also reached double figures.
Anthony Ragazzine scored a game-high 21 points for Mineral Ridge (8-14), and Miles Culp added 14.
¯ MATHEWS 78, CHALKER 54: VIENNA — Tyler Roscoe put up a dominant performance on his senior night with nine 3-pointers and 31 points in a win over Chalker.
Roscoe’s 31 points was a game-high. Vinny Sharp scored 18 points and Dominic Greenwood added 13.
The Mustangs outscored Chalker 21-9 in the third quarter to pull away and scored another 21 points in the fourth quarter.
Jordan Keller scored 26 points for the Wildcats.
¯ PYMATUNING VALLEY 78, BADGER 40: VERNON — The Braves fall to 8-12 on the year after a loss to Pymatuning Valley.
Jack Lendak led Badger with 14 points on the night.
Pymatuning Valley outscored the Braves 23-6 in the third quarter to pull away.
Leading for the Lakers was Tanner Rhodes with a game-high 18 points. Jonah Wilkerson scored 15 points and Andrew Beach added 11.
¯ WINDHAM 43, LORDSTOWN 24: WINDHAM — The Bombers outscored Lordstown 17-5 in the second quarter to propel them to a big win over the Red Devils.
Bert Jones scored 16 points for Windham and Ericq Williams added 13.
Jay Frank and Aiden Force led Lordstown with eight points each. Force scored both of the Red Devils’ two 3-pointers.
¯ MASSILLON 59, URSULINE 56: MASSILLON — Ursuline couldn’t finish a fourth-quarter comeback as the Tigers held on for a non-conference victory.
The Irish (9-13) trailed, 40-32, entering the fourth, but they scored 24 points in the final 8 minutes and were within two a couple times in the final minutes. The Irish couldn’t get a shot off in the closing seconds. Jakaylin Iriving scored nine of his team-high 14 points in the fourth quarter, and Vince Armeni added eight of his 10 in the fourth.
Jaden Stock paced Massillon (18-4) with a game-high 29 points and also grabbed 10 rebounds for a double-double. The Tigers outscored Ursuline, 27-19, in the second and third quarters.
¯ LISBON 52, JACKSON-MILTON 41: NORTH JACKSON — Lisbon outscored the Blue Jays 31-23 in the second half to secure a non-league victory.
Ryan McCullough scored a game-high 21 for the Blue Devils, who held a slim 21-18 lead at the half before pulling away. Blayne Brownfield added 11 for Lisbon.
Cole Grope scored 12 for Jackson-Milton (7-15), which led, 12-11, after one quarter, and AJ Bouch added 10.
