Ridge boys, Canfield girls win invitationals

BAZETTA — Canfield had four golfers shoot 94 or better as they won the Lakeview Invitational Wednesday at Tamer Win Golf & Country Club, beating Poland by 11 strokes. The Cardinals finished with a team score of 366. Poland was at 377, Chardon was third at 406 and Howland fourth at 411.

Haley Tisone led Canfield with an 89, Jackie Kinnick shot 91, Madison Murphy had a 92 and Ava Staebler shot a 94.

Beaver Local’s McKenna Kyler was individual medalist with an 86. Jayne Bernard of Cardinal Mooney and Layla Gilbert of Kenston both shot 88, Jackie Adler of Hubbard matched Tisone at 89 and Howland’s Madison Shaefer shot a 90.

SALEM — Jake Sylak fired a 72 to lead Mineral Ridge to first place in its own tournament, the William Moransky Invitational, played Wednesday at Salem Hills Golf Course.

Sylak edged Tyler Andersen of Columbiana by one stroke, as the Rams beat the defending champion Clippers by 18 strokes. Jackson-Milton’s 368 score was good for third place.

McDonald’s Michael Porter (76) and Jackson-Milton’s Kent Gross (77) were among five golfers who broke 80.
