John F. Kennedy’s AJ Arp and Peyton Comer combined to toss a two-hit shutout as the Eagles won, 4-0, over St. Thomas Aquinas. Arp struck out five, walked one and allowed one hit over four innings. Comer allowed one hit and three walks in the final three innings. Cameron Hollobaugh doubled twice and drove in three runs to power the offense.
Zach Nolf pitched a complete game in McDonald’s 8-1 conference victory over Mineral Ridge. He threw 13 strikeouts and gave up three hits in the win. He also finished with two hits and two RBIs.
Hunter Bates had nine strikeouts and walked zero batters in Maplewood’s 17-2 victory over Chalker. Bates had two hits, one of which was a triple.
Emily Nay pitched a perfect game for Maplewood in their 6-0 victory over Chalker. Nay’s four strikeouts, two hits and two RBIs paced the Rockets.
Ursuline’s Emily Holland struck out 13 and pitched a one-hitter as the Irish blanked Randolph (N.Y.) 14-0 in five innings in the Myrtle Beach Grand Strand Tournament. Holland struck out the first 10 batters, surrendering her only base hit with one out in the fifth inning.
Lydia Spalding had eight strikeouts in Austintown Fitch’s 11-1 victory over Howland. She also finished with two hits, both of which were doubles.
