Newton Falls, Liberty win Blue Tier games

NEWTON FALLS 63, BROOKFIELD 40: NEWTON FALLS — The Tigers outscored Brookfield 36-13 in the second half to pull away from a 27-27 halftime tie in the All-American Conference Blue Tier contest. Falls (11-9, 8-5) used a 20-6 third quarter to break the game open.

Preston Rapczak led the offense with 16 points, Adam Honeycutt and Gage Friend scored 14 apiece, and Josh Honeycutt contributed nine points. Friend also had 11 rebounds and Joey Kline dished out eight assists.

Brookfield (8-12, 4-9) was led by Connor Filipovich with 13 points, Conner Stevens with 12 and Brady Reichart with eight.

LIBERTY 62, CAMPBELL 60: CAMPBELL — Liberty scored the first eight points of the fourth quarter to turn a 45-41 deficit into a 49-45 lead in the All-American Conference Blue Tier game. Campbell tallied five points in a row to regain the lead, 50-49, but a 3-pointer by Travis Myers put Liberty up for good and the Leopards (7-14, 6-7) made 8 of 10 free throws down the stretch to protect the lead.

Ezell Brown led Liberty with 23 points, including a 6-for-6 performance from the line in the final quarter. He also had 15 rebounds, three assists and three steals. Myers added 16 points and Micah Dukes had eight.

LOUISVILLE 77, HOWLAND 65: HOWLAND — A rough second half doomed Howland in a non-conference clash with Louisville.

The Tigers (6-14) led, 41-37, at halftime, but they were outscored 40-22 in the final two quarters. Nathan Barrett scored a team-high 21 for Howland, and Cam Durig added 14.

Jared Mathic of Louisville (13-8) matched Barrett with 21 points.

LISBON 45, JACKSON-MILTON 42: LISBON — The Blue Jays forged a 22-18 halftime lead, but fell behind 34-33 after three quarters in the close non-conference game.

Mason Robison led JM (3-18) with 15 points and Cole Grope added nine.

CARDINAL 61, GRAND VALLEY 52: ORWELL — Ashton Zupancic scored 21 points and Malik Mitchell had 15 but the Mustangs dropped the non-conference game. Dante Accettola added eight points for GV (6-15).

The Mustangs trailed 17-14 after one quarter, 27-25 at halftime and 41-36 after three quarters.
