Lakeview, Newton Falls win big in league games
LAKEVIEW 68, HUBBARD 29: CORTLAND — Every player for the Bulldogs registered a point in Lakeview’s big victory over Hubbard.
Lakeview (15-4, 9-3) was led by AJ McClellan who scored 12 points. Clay Lazzari added 10. They were the only two to surpass double-figures but all 12 players the Bulldogs put on the court scored at least one point in the victory.
Cam Resatar was the lone double-figure scorer for the Eagles (2-16, 2-10).
NEWTON FALLS 78, CRESTVIEW 34: NEWTON FALLS — The Tigers held Crestview to 11 points or fewer in each quarter of the All-American Conference Blue Tier rout. Falls (0-8, 7-4) led 21-5 after one quarter, 38-15 at halftime and 59-26 after three quarters.
Gage Friend had 16 points and 13 rebounds for the Tigers, Adam Honeycutt scored 16 points and Josh Honeycutt added 15 points and six assists. Joey Kline contributed 11 points and Ian King had nine.
CANFIELD 64, HOWLAND 43: CANFIELD — Canfield had five double-figure scorers on their way to a huge victory over Howland.
Conor Crogan and Kyle Gamble led the Cardinals scoring 14 points. Brent Herrman and Brenden Bovk both added 11, and Joe Bruno contributed 10.
Leading Howland (6-13, 2-8) was Nathan Barrett who scored 14.
SOUTH RANGE 64, NILES 47: NILES — A 23-point, first-quarter set the tone for South Range’s victory over Niles.
Chris Brooks put up 24 points in the victory leading the Raiders (14-6, 8-5). Jaxon Anderson scored 16 points and Dante Digaetano added 12.
Leading Niles (9-9, 5-6) was Cyler Kane-Johnson who socred 11 points. He was the lone double-figure scorer of the night.
STRUTHERS 52, GIRARD 48: GIRARD — Girard was held scoreless in the second quarter and likely made all the difference in Friday night’s matchup.
The Indians (10-8, 6-6) outscored Struthers in the first and final quarters, but their scoreless second quarter hung over them like a cloud, keeping them from the win.
Leading the charge for the Wildcats were Kevin Traylor and Jared Laczko who each scored 14. Carson Ryan added 13.
Austin Claussell scored 26 points leading the team and was the only scorer to reach double-figures for the Indians.
LAKESIDE 58, AUSTINTOWN FITCH 49: ASHTABULA — Todd Simons had a game-high 18 points to lead the Falcons past the Dragons in this AAC Red Tier matchup.
Fitch (5-13, 4-5) was outscored 32-25 in the second half.
Brandon Ford and Ethan Colbert led the Dragons with 17 points each, while Courtez Vaughn added 10.
