LaBrae’s Stephens hits 1,000

LaBRAE 86, CAMPBELL 27: LEAVITTSBURG — Tyler Stephens reached 1,000 points in exciting fashion as his Vikings shut down Campbell in a conference matchup.

Stephens scored a game-high 31 points in eclipsing the century makr. The Vikings (13-3, 7-2) outscored Campbell 26-0 in the second quarter and 23-3 in the third to take a commanding lead. They had two other scorers in Benton Tennant and Connor Meyer reach the double-figure mark.

NEWTON FALLS 65, LIBERTY 43: LIBERTY — Newton Falls used its defense to take a commanding halftime lead in the All-American Conference Blue Tier victory. he Tigers (9-8, 6-4) led 14-9 after one quarter, then put together a 19-3 second quarter for a 33-12 halftime lead. Liberty battled back to within 45-34 after three quarters, but NF held a 20-9 edge in the final quarter.

Adam Honeycutt led the Tigers with 20 points. Preston Rapczak scored 11, Cole Marquette had 10 and Gage Friend contributed eight points and eight rebounds.

Liberty was paced by Ezell Brown with 22 points. Darrion Williams added eight.

EDGEWOOD 52, CHAMPION 26: CHAMPION — The Golden Flashes were able to limit undefeated Edgewood in the first half, but couldn’t keep up in the All-American Conference Blue Tier game. The Warriors (17-0, 9-0) led 8-2 after one quarter and 17-9 at halftime before opening the lead to 31-16 after three quarters.

Champion (11-7, 6-4) was led by Joe Abramovich with eight points.

BROOKFIELD 67, CRESTVIEW 39: COLUMBIANA — Outscoring the Rebels by 10 in the third quarter was the key for Brookfield (8-9, 4-6) as it defeated Crestview in an All-American Conference Blue Tier clash.

Conner Stevens led the Warriors with 18 points. Brady Reichart scored 15 and Haden Gibson added 13.

MATHEWS 95, LEETONIA 58: VIENNA — Mathews put five players in double figures in the non-conference rout. The Mustangs (10-7) were led by John Smith with 22 points and 11 rebounds. He was supported by Tyler Roscoe and Vinny Sharp who scored 14 points each, and Zach Rhodanz and Dominic Greenwood who tallied 10 points apiece.

Mathews led 26-10 after the first quarter, 44-27 at halftime and 68-46 after three quarters.

LORDSTOWN 47, MAPLEWOOD 43: LORDSTOWN — Trailing 18-6 after the first quarter, Lordstown rallied back to get a victory over Maplewood.

The Red Devils (2-15, 1-10) held Maplewood scoreless in the second quarter while putting up 14 points of their own. Marcell Jenkins led Lordstown with 17 points. Vincent Spano added 13.

Leading the Rockets (3-16, 2-10) was Hunter Bates who scored 19 points. Conner Steffens scored 17 points.

WINDHAM 76, PYMATUNING VALLEY 57: WINDHAM — The Bombers got their offense going, scoring at least 20 points in each of the last three quarters of the Northeastern Athletic Conference victory. Windham (11-8, 9-3 NAC) led 13-11 after one quarter, but increased its advantage to 34-23 at halftime and to 54-40 after three quarters.

Bert Jones had a big game with 31 points for Windham. Tyler Collins and Blake Eye added 11 apiece, Bailey Rutherford scored 10 and Phillip Maiorca had nine.

The Lakers (12-4, 9-2) were paced by Austin Roberts with 15 points. Noah Wilkerson added 12 and Jacob Saxion and Cole Owen scored 10 each.

NEWBURY 55, CHALKER 48: CLEVELAND — A 22-14 advantage for Newbury in the second quarter put the Wildcats in a hole from which they couldn’t escape in the Northeastern Athletic Conference game played at Quicken Loans Arena.

Chalker (5-15, 3-9) led 12-11 after one quarter, but trailed at halftime, 33-26. The Wildcats closed to 44-40 heading into the last quarter. Kyle Caracanas led Chalker with 17 points and Jordan Kellar scored 10.
