Mooney tops rival; Warriors, GV win

≤ LIBERTY 38, NEWTON FALLS 0: NEWTON FALLS — Liberty’s defense may have posted a shutout, but it was the offense that was the headlining story. With 404 total yards of offense, Liberty ran over Newton Falls 38-0.

Migel Burgess was the star of the show, rushing for 152 total yards, while adding two scores. Teammate Jalen McKinney added another 117 yards rushing and a touchdown.

Newton Falls had nothing going offensively Friday night. The Tigers were stifled for only 4 yards rushing on 24 carries, and 97 total yards of offense.

≤ BROOKFIELD 36, CAMPBELL 7: BROOKFIELD — Brookfield scored early and often Friday night, as it beat Campbell 36-7.

Haden Gibson led Brookfield offensively. Gibson finished the night with 166 yards rushing and 137 yards passing, while adding three scores with his legs. Teammate Tyler Briggs added 149 yards rushing on 16 carries.

Campbell was held scoreless in the second half, as Brookfield pulled away.

≤ CARDINAL MOONEY 47, URSULINE 14: YOUNGSTOWN — After a quiet first quarter for both teams, Mooney’s offense opened up in the second by posting three touchdowns.

Mooney was a rushing machine Friday night, as it posted 373 yards on the ground. The Cardinals were paced by Jason Santisi’s 231 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Mooney finished the night with 475 yards in total offense.

Ursuline was able to get on the board in the third quarter, but it would not be enough. Davion Jones scored both touchdowns for the Irish in the third quarter. He finished over the century mark with 102 yards on the ground.

≤ GRAND VALLEY 35, NEWBURY 3: NEWBURY — Logan Newell had 16 carries for 222 yards and a touchdown as the Mustangs kept their very slim playoff hopes alive by blasting Northeastern Athletic Conference foe Newbury.

Grand Valley (7-2, 4-1 NAC) held Newbury to 108 rushing yards as Newbury (1-8, 1-3) was 0 for 5 passing.

According to joeeitel.com, the Mustangs are 13th in Division V, Region 17. They need a win against Conneaut (5-4) and must have help for them to have a shot at the top eight in the region, which make the postseason.

Noah Parsons had 27 carries for 90 yards for the Black Knights.
