Eagles, Garfield cruise to victories

¯ HUBBARD 63, ALLIANCE 13: HUBBARD — Hubbard dominated Alliance, torching the Aviators for 400 rushing yards and scoring four different ways.

Quarterback Davion Daniels ran for 108 yards and one touchdown on seven carries and was 7-for-7 passing for another 105 yards and two TDs. Rafael Morales led all rushers with 129 yards and two TDs on 16 attempts.

The Eagles led 35-0 before Alliance got on the board, and they added three more after the Aviators score to lead, 56-7, early in the fourth quarter.

Hubbard has a showdown with Girard at home in Week 2.

¯ STRUTHERS 35, LIBERTY 6: STRUTHERS — Struthers was impressive on both sides of the ball, showing a balanced offense and a stingy defense as it cruised past Liberty in a non-conference clash.

Struthers ran for 151 yards and passed for 190 as it raced out to a 21-0 first-half lead. JD Hall and Joe Macciomel each scored on 1-yard runs in the first quarter, and Keyshawn Chism added a 12-yard burst.

Hall opened up the passing game in the second half with TD passes of 18 and 17 to put the game out of reach. Hall finished 18-28 for 185 yards and two TDs.

Liberty struggled to find any offensive consistency, rushing for just 61 yards on 32 carries, and passed for 63. Daveyon Williamson scored a fourth-quarter TD from 3 yards out.

¯ GARFIELD 40, CARDINAL 19: GARRETTSVILLE — A fourth-quarter surge powered by a strong rushing attack pushed Garfield past Cardinal.

The G-Men trailed, 7-6, going into the third quarter, but two rushing touchdowns gave them a 20-7 edge entering the fourth quarter.

Garfield, which ran for 381 yards on whopping 62 carries, went up 26-7 on a 37-yard run by Devyn Penna. He led all rushers with 133 yards and two TDs on just eight carries.

Cardinal cut the lead to 20-13 with a 21-yard run by Sinclair, but Garfield closed the game out with TD runs of 25 (by Browder Summer) and 18 (by Jarrod Peters). Peters added 109 yards and two TDs on 15 carries for the G-Men.

The Huskies lost two fumbles and had 13 penalties for 130 yards in the loss. Sinclair had a team-high 113 yards rushing on nine carries.

¯ WINDHAM 51, SEBRING 0: SEBRING — The Bombers outgained Sebring 444 yards to 8, scoring five touchdowns in the first quarter of the rout.

Mason Angle gained 157 yards on four carries, scoring three touchdowns. Phillip Maiorca scored twice on three carries, totalling 107 yards.

Blaze Angle connected with Blake Eye on a 67-yard touchdown pass.

¯ GRAND VALLEY 34, JEFFERSON 6: JEFFERSON — Logan Newell rushed 15 times for 69 yards and four touchdowns as the Mustangs rolled past the Falcons.

Daniel Bruckman’s 61-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter accounted for Jefferson’s only score. He led all rushers with 13 carries for 83 yards.

The Falcons were held to minus-1 yards passing. Nick Reichek, who had 12 carries for 77 yards, added Grand Valley’s other score to end the third quarter.
