Gillespie in 2nd turn as NF coach
NEWTON FALLS — Michael Gillespie is back on the Newton Falls football sideline — as head coach.
Gillespie was hired at Thursday’s board of education meeting on a supplemental contract as varsity football head coach.
Gillespie is a retired 35-year special education teacher from the district who was a football coach and athletic director when he was a teacher. He compiled a record of 51-67-2 in 12 seasons from 1979 through 1990.
Gillespie replaces Josh Franke who was 5-25 in three years as the Tigers’ coach, including a 3-7 record this past season.
