Ridge wins first game in overtime

MINERAL RIDGE 33, SEBRING 32: SEBRING – Michael McLean’s 1-yard run in overtime, capped by Danny Linebaugh’s extra point, vaulted the Rams past the Trojans for Mineral Ridge’s first victory this season.

Jarred Miller’s 9-yard run in the fourth quarter tied the game at 26. Miller had 21 carries for 103 yards to lead the Rams (1-5, 1-0 Inter Tri-County League, Blue Division), who had 161 rushing yards.

Sebring (2-4, 0-1) had 401 total yards – 341 of it rushing. Nate Martin led the way with 30 carries for 224 yards.

McDONALD 35, JACKSON-MILTON 7: McDONALD – Alex Cintron and Joe Celli combined for a good portion of the Blue Devils 210 rushing yards as McDonald opened Inter Tri-County League, Blue Tier play with a convincing win over the Blue Jays.

Cintron had 18 carries for 119 yards and a touchdown, while Celli had 16 carries for 86 yards and one score.

McDonald quarterback Dylan Portolese was 9-of-10 for 81 yards and a 33-yard pass to Joe Sudol as the Blue Devils (2-3, 1-0) took a 28-0 lead into halftime.

Jackson-Milton’s offense was stymied, gaining just 75 total yards.

Johnathon Voland was 5-of-13 for 60 yards and two interceptions for the Blue Jays (4-2, 0-1).

SPRINGFIELD LOCAL 34, SOUTH RANGE 27, OT: NEW MIDDLETOWN – The Tigers took down the Raiders in overtime, thanks to a Brandon Brungard to Austin Trebella 25-yard touchdown pass in the extra stanza.

Springfield (3-3, 1-0) rushed for 246 yards, led by Trebella’s 134 yards on five carries, including an 84-yard touchdown run. Brungard was 9-for-11 with 166 yards and had three touchdown tosses.

South Range (5-1, 0-1) suffered their first loss of the year as the Raiders came into the game as the second-ranked team in Division V, Region 17. South Range scored 20 second-quarter points to get back into the game, and then forced overtime with a punt return for a touchdown with three minutes remaining.

URSULINE 41, ROYAL IMPERIAL COLLEGIATE OF CANADA 12: URSULINE – The Irish scored 41 first-half points and cruised past RICC (Ontario, Canada).

Ursuline (3-3) held the Knights to negative 23 yards rushing while running for 182 yards and five touchdowns.

The Irish’s Daylen Harris ran for 46 yards and two TDs, and Joe Floyd add 55 yards and one TD, all in the first half.

RICC’s Tucker Ruett passed for 210 yards on 13-of-34 passing with two TDs and two interceptions.

WESTERN RESERVE 43, LOWELLVILLE 6: LOWELLVILLE – The Blue Devils scored 36 unanswered points in the first half in an ITCL, Blue Division victory.

Dominic Velasquez completed 6-of-12 passes for 118 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions for Western Reserve (3-3, 1-0). Jack Cappabianca ran for 72 yards and one TD on eight rushes. Adam Gatrell added 42 yards and one TD on the ground and also returned a block punt for a TD.

Kade Hiles caught two passes for 76 yards – both TDs. The Blue Devils outgained Lowellville, 262 to 83.

Achili Minch paced Lowellville (0-5) with 53 yards on 15 carries.

GARFIELD 58, WATERLOO 19: WATERLOO – The G-Men quickly went ahead 17-0 in the first quarter and never looked back. Garfield outrushed Waterloo 378-125, and outgained them by more than 200 yards overall.

Garfield (6-0, 1-0) now moves to first place in Division V, Region 17 with the win. Anthony Denigris caught two touchdown passes from Dalton Fall and ran for another. Kyle Borrelli rushed for one touchdown and had a pick-six.

Waterloo (2-4, 0-1) was outscored 34-6 in the second half as its offense was held to 235 total yards. Bolanz had a 5-yard touchdown run and later threw a 45-yard touchdown pass to Wise.
