Chalker goes to .500 with 10-point victory over Lakers
CHALKER 32, PYMATUNING VALLEY 22: ANDOVER – Chalker scored the first 20 points and held on to beat the Lakers for its first NAC victory of the year.
Christian Romigh ran for 132 yards and two TDs for the Wildcats (3-3, 1-1). Chalker led 20-8 before PV (2-4, 0-1) made a comeback, but Romigh ran in TDs of 61 and 37 in the third and fourth quarters, respectively, to seal the victory.
Cody Helmuth also played a big role for the Wildcats, with 84 yards and two TDs on 26 carries. Both of his scores came in the first half. Trystan Mollahan made his only completion of the game count, going 1-for-2 with a 17-yard TD to Cam Mazzola in the second quarter.
GRAND VALLEY 48, NEWBURY 0: NEWBURY – The Mustangs showed their dominance in the Northeastern Athletic Conference as they held the host Black Knights to 53 total yards in a convincing victory.
Johnny Chambers was 1-of-3 for 8 yards for Newbury (3-3, 0-1 NAC).
Grand Valley (5-1, 2-0) dominated with 463 total yards as Michael McGovern had 173 total yards (143 passing).
McGovern had two passing scores to Noah Glavickas, who had two receptions for 98 yards, in the first quarter to get things rolling. McGovern added two rushing scores, accounting for his 30 yards.
Eduardo Hernandez paced the Mustangs with 10 carries for 155 yards and one touchdown.
MATHEWS 30, WEIRTON MADONNA 14: VIENNA – Mathews rushed past visiting Weirton (W.Va.) Madonna with 67 carries for 413 yards and four touchdowns.
Daniel Canter led the way with 33 carries for 207 yards and two scores from 1 and 16 yards for the Mustangs (3-3).
Andrew Simon had 17 carries for 82 yards and two scores, while Cory Taylor added eight rushes for 87 yards.
Madonna’s Tavon Jeter had three receptions for 78 yards, while quarterback Dustin Brown was 9-of-16 for 146 yards with an interception as its team dropped to 0-5.
WINDHAM 47, ST. JOHN 27: ASHTABULA – The Bombers scored 28-first half points and never looked back. Windham rushed for 240 yards and gained 455 total yards on the night.
Windham (4-2) finds themselves just one spot out of the playoffs in Division VI, Region 21 with the win. Phillip Maiorca ran for two scores and had 106 yards on the ground. Blaze Angle had three touchdown tosses and 215 yards.
St. John (0-5) gained 371 yards, including 253 passing. Christian Blank had six receptions for 123 yards.
