Sound off!
Breaking news: Commissioners Denny Malloy and Tony Bernard passed a resolution giving Palmer Energy and CCAO a blank check to pass on higher utility costs for electric and gas aggregation to county residents without a public notice — no public hearings, no competitive bidding. Ohio law requires as much; Malloy failed to disclose he is a committee member of CCAO and should have recused himself from voting. Malloy and Bernard must answer to their constituents. Kudos to Commissioner Hernandez for abstaining.

Amy Acton is a doctor who didn’t follow the science and drank the Fauci COVID Kool-Aid. Ohioans should remember how we unnecessarily suffered under her direction. This is not good enough to run our state. No experience in finance, commerce or education on a level needed to run our state. Her past leadership was a failure.

I believe the Tribune should be telling the stores and dining guides they need their ads to come in day early. The dining guide came out on Thursday and since my paper comes in the mail, some things were already over. Same with the stores. Saturday sales were over or too late to go to. Did you tell them papers were being mailed and might not reach subscribers till
5 p.m. plus you still need to read the paper.

So much for holding public officials to a higher standard. Former prosecutor Nick Graham gets probation and 5 months of being grounded like a teenager (house arrest)! So he gets to stay home and watch TV, use a computer to chat and play video games. He can even chip golf balls in his County Club-adjacent backyard and drink a cold brew. So much for accountability!

It is simply murder that is happening to “boaters” leaving Venezuela, as they could be immigrants trying to leave the country and have nothing to do with drugs. Yet, MAGA says nothing. Why not just continue the ACA and allow subscribers to keep their health insurance? This is because Trump hates Obama and wants it tanked, yet there is no new help for the insured.

What a sad day for amateur athletics in Ohio! The membership schools of the OHSAA voted to approve NIL for high school athletes. Because they will now be monetarily compensated for their sports ability, hopefully, all athletic scholarships for those teens will cease. Now, they can afford to pay their own way. That scholarship money should now be given to the music majors, the education majors, the chemistry majors, etc. Craziness!

Trump needs to stay out of the negotiations. This is between Europe, Ukraine and Russia. His proposals are words of Putin. The world doesn’t need a Trump Peace Plan.

This administration is slowly destroying so many phases and functions in our country. In the movie, “The Pelican Brief,” the ‘oil and gas industries’ are trying to sneak by environmental laws in destroying the coastlines with drilling in Louisiana. Trump’s latest attack on our national health and environment is proposing leases for companies in California, Florida and Alaska, despite the devastation and damage it will be to health issues and the environment. Just as with the lives of immigrants, he just doesn’t care.

Trump is selling Ukraine down the river. All of us locals, especially of Eastern European heritage need to tell Bernie M to tell 47 enough is enough of kissing Putin’s a–. Trump has no clue on what is going on. He just wants his name after a peace deal. Russia is brutalizing Ukraine and we all sit by.

Last year our calf prices were $200. At present they are between $1,200-$1,400. What will a hamburger cost in 2026?

Good move, Tim Ryan! You have spared yourself embarrassment and humiliation by bowing out of the governor’s race before you even entered it. You were able to read the proverbial handwriting on the wall. Good for you!
