Listen to what Bible says about witchcraft

DEAR EDITOR:

I was somewhat disturbed by the March 27 article regarding the paranormal and an area witch. Evidently you felt this article was newsworthy for the front page.

I would add additional thought about paranormal and activities of witches as defined by the American College Dictionary. Para is: beside / beyond or to guard against.

“A witch is a sorceress, one who practices black magic. The sorceress is one who is to exercise supernatural powers through evil spirits.”

In 1 Timothy 4:1 The Holy Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of devils. And, John 8:44, that “Satan is a liar and the father of lies. You are of your father the devil and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources for he is a liar and the father of it.”

2 Kings 9:22 tells of no peace to Joram “as long as the harlotries of your mother Jezebel and her witchcraft are so many.”

In 2 Chronicles 33:6 we find Manassah who did much evil using witchcraft and sorcery provoked the Lord of anger. Eventually “Manassah repented and was restored” and then “knew that the Lord was God.”

John 10:10 says “The thief (satan and his demonic) does not come except to steal, kill and to destroy. But Jesus Christ said, “I have come that you might have life and that you may have it more abundantly.”

If we want to have the life Jesus promised, we have to repent of our sins, ask Him for forgiveness and follow Him, as He is “The Way, The Truth and The Life.”

Paranormal and witchcraft is real, but not the way.
