Senior citizens need safe, affordable homes
I feel badly for healthy seniors who live in their homes that they can no longer afford, but they have nothing safe available that would allow them to move.
We used to have The Elms, built to accommodate their needs. It was situated in a safe neighborhood with stores that were within walking distance. It was a perfect situation for them with a grocery store, a drug store, restaurant and others places they could walk.
Somehow that was taken away from them and opened up to younger people who have destroyed the peace, security and safety that seniors need and once enjoyed.
Why do we disregard the needs of our elderly? They’ve lived their lives here and contributed to our community just to have their needs ignored. Why can’t Warren provide a safe space in which our elderly may live and thrive? They are as important as any other in our community.
