Mix of socialism and free market works

DEAR EDITOR:

A Tribune Chronicle editorial said Tim Ryan needs to become less liberal and quit following Nancy Pelosi’s lead.

Really? I thought Nancy Pelosi was a strong, smart woman who wasn’t afraid to stand up and confront a mean-spirited bully who happens to be President Donald Trump. It is really easy to spout how horrible Mrs. Pelosi is as speaker of the House. How about the newspaper give readers some examples of Mrs. Pelosi pushing her far left liberal agenda on the House of Representatives. The newspaper also should tell its readers which liberal socialistic programs or mandates our great country has woven into our society that need to be eliminated. There are so many programs and mandates you could list, like overtime pay, public schools, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, unemployment compensation, government aid for colleges and students — I could go on, but you get the idea.

Tim Ryan ran against Nancy Pelosi for House leader, so this idea that he blindly follows her is blatantly wrong. There is a reason Tim Ryan believes in the liberal-to-moderate policy. It’s because it works. Whether conservatives and Republicans like it or not, a mix of free market and socialism is a proven philosophy. Think about what would happen if conservatives and Republicans got their way and all those programs were eliminated.

On another note, it wasn’t the Black Lives Matter movement that got caught by the FBI planning to kidnap a state governor. The BLM movement isn’t the people walking around with semiautomatic weapons. BLM movements weren’t the people who tried to run a Joe Biden campaign bus off the road. If Donald Trump would have made any effort to sit down with the leaders from the black and brown communities, this problem with police brutality could have been resolved. Or maybe that was Trump’s plan all along to use the protests as a weapon to scare voters. Now that’s a real classy guy.
