Sound off!

For too long, mayors of Warren have given out the very important job of safety service director to people based on politics. These mayors choose not the person most capable of running the city, but rather those based on some eastside / westside formula or race-based math. Good for Ken MacPherson for trying to make sure these mayors choose the best person capable of doing the job!

Sounds like former public defender director David Rouzzo is being attacked for not turning a blind eye to what might be abuse of compensation time by employees. Doesn’t he understand he must not buck the system if he plans to stay in the system? It is shameful, but it seems that’s how government works.

Shame on the county official who, even though he has a parking space with his name on it in the county parking lot, insists on parking his oversized vehicle either in the loading zone or in medium-sized spaces on Harmon Street meant for citizens who just want to conduct business with the county. He parks for hours in these spaces. How lazy can one elected official be?

The YWCA hosted a two-day panel referencing racism. Guest speaker was Lina Adi, born here of illegal immigrant parents who believed American laws were not worth obeying. Could they get away with that in their country? We all know the answer. Why, then, should we be asked to change our laws to accommodate their violation of our established laws? Doesn’t that make them racist against us?

Local grocery stores should fix their electric carts that are disgraceful. Some barely work, and there’s never any available. And to people who use the electric carts and leave them outside or do not plug them back in, shame on you. Don’t let ignorance be your handicap.

I am amazed to see the level of idiocy displayed by Girard officials continuing policing for dollars. When learning court costs must be paid in advance by cities on traffic camera citations, Mayor Melfi called for increased fines to compensate. What he fails to realize is the state is reducing state funding in the amount of fines collected. Raising fines simply raises the amount of lost state revenue. Girard will still have to pay the court costs from their own money. Take that money out of the mayor’s salary.

This is to thank Trumbull Commissioner Dan Polivka for standing up and fighting for us on no drones in our back yards. I can understand using them for seeking drug busts, but for building permit for additions, etc., is just more government intruding on our rights. We need less government instead of more.

I cannot figure Sen. Harris’s surge after the Democratic debates. When you want to improve your team, you check available coaches’ performances and choose the best. I would not choose any California candidate. California is a mess due to stupidity of current management. When will citizens wake up and vote out idiots? We wouldn’t want to put Harris in charge of the U.S. We don’t need more cities like L.A. or San Francisco. Harris would be another mistake for Dems.

The Obama shadow government was caught advising Iran on how to defeat President Trump’s foreign policy. Former Secretary of State John Kerry and Sen. Feinstein of California called Tehran leaders telling them to wait until President Trump is defeated to re-negotiate the Iran Deal. This is undermining the present administration and is against the Logan Act. Yet no one cares. Where are the senators and representatives? No one in Washington is doing their jobs except Trump.
