Fracking good for future of the Valley

DEAR EDITOR:

I’m amazed to see the Community Bill of Rights back on the ballot again in November.

The shortsighted supporters of this bill are attacking the oil and gas industry. We are being misled into thinking that fracking will bring a doomsday effect to all of us, when in fact it will bring a renewal to Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley.

The Marcellus and Utica shale deposits are the second coming to the area that will bring industry, job growth and a rebuilding to our ailing region. Opponents need to come out of the enchanted forest and see what is really happening in the world. The fracking for natural gas will provide a source of clean energy that will support us for years to come.

Are there pit falls to this? Yes, but we as a society must be able to see past the day after tomorrow and the smoke and mirrors of those who would stand in the way of success. We need a new source of energy now, not in 50 years, and natural gas is our best prospect for the “right now.”

And we need to stand and show the world we don’t need to make America great again. America has always been great.
