Clean up rental properties

DEAR EDITOR:

Once again I write to urge that we do more to rid our city of Warren of rental property that does not meet the standards of a decent neighborhood.

There is a home on Sheridan Avenue where the grass is knee high, the driveway entrance is crumbling to pieces, the garage roof needs to be replaced and the bedroom window continues to show boards on the inside.

Yes, I have contacted city officials, as I have been doing for 15 years.

At some times, some issues have been addressed, but nearly always, new problems continue to surface. In addition, the dog at the residence is running loose, time after time. The landlord is a Warren businessman.

What am I to do?

Do we, the good neighbors, continue to throw our hands up in the air and lose hope? Have we lost the decency to act?

Is there no forbearance? Is there no shame?
