Township cemetery improvements needed
Last weekend we turned our clocks ahead. Spring and summer are just ahead.
It should be a happy time, but for some it means another summer of watching our loved ones disrespected.
In 1985, my mother passed away suddenly.
My father spent time picking out a tidy, well-kept cemetery, West View, publicly owned by Vernon Township.
Years passed, and we buried my father and husband there, also.
To say West View is not the same is putting it mildly. The grass grows over the stones. Things we place there — angels, flags and eternal lights — are stolen.
My family has a plot there, also.
My hope is that this year the cemetery will do better in upkeep of this final resting place. Other communities seem able to keep up with mowing. I hope this year will be different.
