Local Hadassah chapter active

DEAR EDITOR:

The Tribune Chronicle’s “In History” column published Feb. 24 included “In 1912, the American Jewish women’s organization Hadassah was founded in New York City.”

On behalf of the Tri-County Chapter of Hadassah, we appreciate the recognition of our organization. Tri-County encompasses members living in Trumbull, Mahoning and Mercer counties.

We are an enthusiastic Zionist group supporting our two hospitals located in Jerusalem, Israel, which treat patients equally, regardless of religion, country of origin, gender or age. Our doctors do extensive medical research to benefit world health.

We sponsor youth villages in Israel for children in need, raise funds to plant trees and fund water projects and other environmental concerns.

In the U.S., we advocate for women’s health issues and we provide summer camps for Jewish youth.

Hadassah International involves countries throughout the world that have Jewish populations.

Thank you for making the Tribune readers aware of our organization.
