Children are in need of some guidance

DEAR EDITOR:

In the news recently was a story of how a woman named Ellen Zaban was assaulted and shot in her own driveway. A 14- year-old boy has been accused.

Last summer, two Warren teens were arrested on murder charges. Jacob LaRosa was charged with killing his 94-year-old neighbor and Bresha Meadows is accused in the death of her father.

Where, as a society, have we gone wrong? Why are our young people going down the path of no return? Where have we failed? Is it the school system, the home life or our failure to see the problems of our young?

The solution is complex. Our government cannot do it all. Legislation will not be the answer to everything.

We, as a people, must step up to the plate and give support to our schools and social programs to help guide our children, to keep them from going down a path from which they cannot return. We have lost too many already.
