Sound off!
ORCHID: To those residents who take advantage of good-weather days to put up Christmas decorations and lights, but wait until AFTER Thanksgiving to turn them on. ONION: To those car owners with super-bright headlights — possibly 10,000 NITS of brightness — that blind the vision of oncoming drivers.

Kudos to Prosecutor Dennis Watkins, who traveled to Columbus to speak against Senate Bill 101, which would abolish the death penalty in Ohio. Even though Gov. DeWine has continually delayed executions, there is a need for harsh punishment for heinous crimes, most notably Danny Lee Hill’s murder of a 12-year-old child in 1985. If lethal injection is not acceptable, lawmakers should change the statute to firing squad or electrocution. Let’s think of the victims’ families for once.

I voted for Trump primarily on the basis of one issue: the border. Biden’s open door policy has allowed millions of migrants to cross into our country illegally, many of which brought with them drugs, criminal records, and diseases that we’ve eradicated years ago. And Kamela openly stated she would not have changed anything Biden did. I don’t feel that a Republican president would have allowed that to happen over the last four years.

Is the Pledge of Allegiance still taught in our schools? Is the National Anthem still sung? Many young people simply stand but do not sing nor recite the words of these two national treasures. If they would learn the words and understand what they are saying, then patriotism and the riches of America would be better understood and appreciated. If the schools aren’t teaching this, then the parents should demand that they do.

It has been reported that $400 million was spent in Ohio’s election for US senator. That equals $33 million for each person ( Ohio’s population is 11.8 ). Both parties want their man in Washington to make our lives better. They could have just sent me a check for $33 million, instead of those incessant TV ads, and my life would be much better.

My daughter just left for an hour long supervised visit with her young daughter
at the Warren Solace Center. She has done this for over two years. She prepares a meal, sets a table at the Center to recreate the meal they would share were there together at home. This child needs her mother on a daily basis, not one hour a week. I doubt the creators of Solace Center envisioned Family Court punishing a parent for over two years.

Attorney Lynn Maro, recently elected Mahoning County prosecutor, says that Ohio’s capital punishment system is “enormously expensive.” Danny Lee Hill (just one example) has been on death row for 35+ years. How expensive has his imprisonment been? The taxpayers have been paying for his (and others’) needs too long — food, medical/dental care, etc. Let’s see some figures that would compare the two – death by any means vs. decades of care while jailed for life with no possibility of parole.
