Make permanent COVID program for older Ohioans

A state program for Ohioans 60 years of age and older ought to outlive the COVID-19 epidemic, even though the outbreak prompted officials to launch it.

It is the “Staying Connected” initiative, an automated service by which older Buckeye State residents are contacted by phone once per day to ensure they are all right. If participants do not answer calls after three attempts and an alternate contact cannot be reached, the local sheriff’s office is notified.

If you are interested in participating, call 1-833-632-2428 or go to the website: www.aging.ohio.gov/stayingconnected.

It is an excellent idea, and one that should be made permanent.
