Now is time to verify voter registration

If you are an Ohioan planning to vote in next year’s important elections, think back: Have you voted in any election or referendum during the past six years?

If not, shame on you. But more important for the future, you may want to ensure you remain registered to vote next year.

State law requires that those who have not cast ballots during the past six years have their names removed from voter registration rolls — unless they respond to notices asking if they want to re-register.

About 235,000 “last-chance” notices have been mailed.

If you are uncertain of your status, contact the county elections board. If necessary, you can ensure you remain registered.

Voting is important, but if you are not registered, you cannot vote legally. If you want your voice to be heard, take steps to ensure you are registered.
