Columnists sought to share local insights

The Tribune Chronicle is seeking four Trumbull County residents to serve as community columnists on the Opinion page.

Everyone – young and old, men and women, white collar and blue collar, newcomers and old timers, all ethnic groups, all races, everyone – is encouraged to submit material for consideration. Columnists are paid a $25 stipend for each submission that is published.

The requirement is a willingness to commit to writing 26 columns – one every two weeks – for one year. The topics should focus on local issues that would be of interest to our readers. Candidates must be good writers with something to say about what is happening in Trumbull County, including any of its communities. The columns should be insightful and share commentary on local topics. They should be 500 to 600 words in length.

To be considered, send three writing samples, a letter of introduction with an idea about what topics might be offered, and a brief resume or curriculum vitae. We also would encourage you to send at least one sample column. Mail material to Brenda J. Linert, Tribune Chronicle editor, 240 Franklin St. S.E., Warren, 44483, or email material to editor@tribtoday.com. Put “community columnist” in the subject line. The deadline to submit material for consideration is Sept. 30.
